I have spondylolisthesis and SI joint dysfunction since my late teens. I have anxiety about sleeping bc there is always pain. I slept pain-free for the first time ever really. I didn’t use wedge just regular pillow. Thank you!

This is the best video I have seen for sleeping with SI joint pain, detailed and the use of human is very helpful. When using the wedge pillow would you use it on the sore side (meaning lying on the not sore side into the mattress). I hear conflicting ideas.

Sorry for the late reply on this. I’ve found that sleeping on the non-painful side is less stressful on the painful SI joint.

Haha when I got an MRI on my SI joints (all normal btw) they gave me the wedge pillow and I have never felt more relaxed lying down. Need to get one. Every position imaginable hurts and I also have pelvic floor dysfunction so side sleeping feels off too.

I’ve been having acute lower back pain of late and X-rays show degeneration in my right SI joint. Is it best to strengthen glutes? The Chiro said my hips are uneven along with shoulders but one scary thing he did mention was my head is meant to weigh 3.8 kgs but it’s now weighing 5.1 kgs what does this mean? I have so many questions but I stopped going to Chiro as he only manipulated me each time with no other exercises or information.

Is there a brand/type of wedge pillow you recommend? I recently got diagnosed with bilateral sacroiliac joint osteoarthritis. I'm 27 and have had back pain for 10+ years and never knew this is what was going on. Finding your channel gives me hope that I can improve my pain🙏

I finally got a wedge and sleep on that in the 45 degrees. Amazing that my SI pain is gone!

If you have SI joint pain on just one side, and using the 45 degree partial side method, should the sore side be down against the bed, or the side facing up? Or doesn't matter?

In the 45 degree position, I assume you should sleep on the opposite side of pain, correct?

What if you change sides frequently during the night? That's a lot of props to move around under coverings. I abandoned out of frustration.

Spoiler alert: If your SI pain & dysfunction is severe and IF you live alone, it is nearly impossible to utilize this great technique. IF you get to the bathroom during the night, impossible to manipulate the pillows and rebuild the stack & replace blankets by Yourself! Otherwise, it does make sense and obviously works.

Oh well some pregnancy pillow sets include wedge pillow, some are even kind of connected together? pregnant women have to get up to pee all the time LMAO, I’m used to shove them back under me in the right positions when I get back into bed, can’t wake my husband to make a pillow tower for me every time

My problem isn't discomfort while sleeping. There's no issue there. It's after I wake up and get out of bed when the pain hits. My sciatica pain is horrible, and I can hardly stand up straight without that burning in my lower back and glute, and my left leg goes numb. After breakfast, once I've been sitting down for a bit, the discomfort seems to ease a good bit, and as the morning progresses, discomfort pretty much disappears -- until I go out for a hike.

Hey! How are you doing now? I too have the same problem. It started 2 months back. Now the pain has come down and lingers for first 10 mins of the day but it’s still there. Hope you have got relieved!

@@ashish_k_sin Well, it's improved, but only slightly. I'm still sore first thing in the morning, but that's now mainly by lower back because a recent xray shows pretty much no cartilage left in the lumbar spine due to arthritis or whatever. So I've been real careful with what I do, keeping workout simple and non-jarring, and avoiding any real manual labor activity. The hip and SI joint, however, continue to be the greatest point of discomfort. While not a bad as it was a year ago, it's doesn't take much at all to get it inflamed again. Daily walks are no great issue, but simple things like kneeling down to tie my shoe, or certain stretches, bring a twinge of pain and I know I'm going to be sore all over again for a few days. Very aggravating. I'm much too young to feel this damn old.

If you sleep on your stomach sleep with one knee bent to on one side at a 90 degree angle. You can switch at any time.

Thanks for sharing! Prone sleeping is not recommended if you have existing neck issues, as it can cause additional strain in some cases. If you do not have any neck issues, sleeping in the prone position can be very relaxing. Proper arm positioning can also reduce strain on the neck as well as using a very thin pillow or no pillow at all. A firm mattress will help to support the body and prevent sinking or possible misalignment.
