The sacroiliac joint, or SI joint, is a common, but often overlooked, cause of lower back pain, sciatica pain, and SI joint pain.
* Links discussed in video are found below. Click "SHOW MORE" *
When not properly diagnosed SI joint dysfunction or SI joint instability can lead to frustrating results from traditional treatment for these common conditions (low back pain, sciatica, hip pain, pelvic region pain, etc).
Links for products noted in this video (affiliate link):
* Serola Sacroiliac Belt: amzn.to/3hkiIjh
* Ligaplex I (Standard Process): amzn.to/3hiQ5D2
The sacroiliac joint does not have to be an option of last resort when trying to figure out your back pain or sciatic symptoms. With a proper understanding of the SI joint anatomy, some clues as to how the sacroiliac joint gets injured, and some ideas on what can be done to help heal the SI joint, you stand a greater chance of resolution of your pain.
As always, it is important to work side-by-side with your medical professional to determine the exact cause of your pain and be guided on a course of care. However, in my private practice I find that all too often the SI joint and SI joint dysfunction, most commonly SI joint instability, is an overlooked cause of pelvic region pain and back pain.
And many times patients will go to a chiropractor who does a chiropractic adjustment over and over and over again with nothing but transient results. Chiropractic adjustments when properly performed on joints that are fixated / stuck versus unstable have powerful positive benefits. However, manual chiropractic adjustments done to a joint that has instability does not provide lasting pain relief and in some cases can make the pain worse. Proper diagnosis is vital.
There are ways for a chiropractor to "adjust" a sacroiliac joint that has some instability, if it appears necessary. These are low-force chiropractic techniques like Activator Methods and Thompson Drop technique, both of which utilize a specialized instrument to provide a gentle adjustment to the joint.
Also addressed are the classic presentation of SI joint pain. We delve into the case of a dancer who hurt herself sledding. Her SI joint instability responded rapidly and completely when we got her a trochanteric belt / SI belt (amzn.to/3hkiIjh) to help improve stability across her sacroiliac joints and which allowed her sacroiliac ligaments to heal. In cases where someone has SI joint instability a trochanteric belt can be key.
If you are suffering with back pain, pelvic region pain, or sciatica and can't seem to find a lasting solution, you may have SI joint instability. This video will help you understand more about SI joint pain and sacroiliac joint instability. Working closely with your health care providers, armed with knowledge, you can find a solution. I hope this video helps you find the relief you deserve soon.

Hi! also here is what saved me, I suffered with sciatica for 3 years, and I had tried everything, ( i am 58 yrs old) it would literally take me 15 minutes to figure out how to get out of bed! it was so painful! ...So my daughter came home from college and i asked her to put the memory foam mattress she used at college on my bed and this is going to sound nuts but after just napping on it once i could tell i felt a little better! and then going forward each time i slept on it, it got easier to get out of bed and after 2 weeks my sciatica was basically gone! I have not been back to the Dr. to get any more cortisone shots since! And I am not selling a product because as you can see, i have not named the product other than that it was memory foam. So sometimes it can be as dumb as changing a little something in your life like this pad! also i had a meniscus problem in my knee because i had been compensating with my knees to bend to pick things up. ....On another day i was telling a friend about my past back problems and how the pad fixed me and she asked if i wear flip flops, and i said yes! i live in them in the summer! and a light bulb went off in my head because it suddenly occured to me that every time i started wearing flip flops my back would start to feel bad, ....so then....because our phones are listening, i get and add for these flip flops with and arch support which of course i then ordered!... and this is equally nuts but i had a bump by my knee almost the size of a half walnut, and this is no joke, after 24 hours the pain was gone and 72 hours the bump was gone! And my son said to me, mom if i did not see that with my own eyes i would not believe you! But the bump was there for 3 months and he saw it go away in 3 days! and i had been seeing a doctor for it and nothing was working! ...except those flip flops! so try simple changes like these too!!! It made all the difference for me!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! My wife had been fighting with this pain for about a year. She was at a consistent 9 with pain, 8 on good days. She had so many scans, ER visits ect. To the point where all the doctors were going to hand her off to the mayo clinic. She would have to take a few minutes after each visit that said that nothing was wrong to ball her eyes out. Then I found this video, ordered the belt. Now a few weeks later she has 0 pain. So I personally want to thank you for giving me back the happy fun loving wife that I married.

In 1982 had a chiropractor tear me apart. I could barely walk for 2 weeks. No other chiro could help. Activator didnt help. 39 years of pain mostly 24/7 and limping.... Chiropractors are clueless. 3 yrs ago i stumbled on THIS YT video selling this belt.(see my 3 yr old post) MIRACLE. TOOK 4 MONTHS to heal. Pain comes back if im without a belt for 3 weeks, them i go back to belt. My work, i walk 3-7 miles per day, and fo a lot of lifting and climbing... great exercise😁 No pain. Cant stand in one spot longer than 10 minutes. Amazing to be pain free. Male 76, not fat, vigorous, most think im 65 👍 and cant believe that I get up and down off the floor like a 20 yr old. @@meganl.5650 The most common SI problem is restricted movement. The shock absorber effect is lost causing excess load on hip and low back. It generates pain because back muscles over-work and become painful. A good chiropractor should be able to diagnose which you have - SI restrictions or SI instability.

Thank you so much for sharing this info. For over a month I could barely walk due to severe SI joint pain, and nothing I tried helped. I watched this through, and bought the belt thinking it all sounded too good to be true, but it really worked. I was back up and walking normally in just over 2 weeks! I came away from this understanding why the injury happened, how to help it heal, and how to avoid it happening again. I've only been on my feet for 11 months, after 3.5 years in a wheelchair, so having the SI joint injury threaten my mobility for such an extended time was incredibly hard on me. I can't possibly thank you enough for the help. In gratitude!

For over a year I have been struggling with pain down my left leg. Sitting, walking, standing for any length of time was difficult. After MRI and ultrasound no source for the pain could be found. This video came up as a recommendation and my first reaction was, that's me. I have started to use an SI belt and I can't believe the relief it has given me. I was beginning to think I might have to give up my home and yard simply because it was too difficult to keep everything up. This video has given me hope that I don't have to just learn to live with the pain but actually get rid of it. Thank you so much and also for your encouragement to keep looking for a solution.

Sorry, this is so long I didn’t know how else to explain what had happened in 50 years. This was the best video that could have come along. You did a wonderful job explaining SI so it was really easy to understand. I’ve never heard of this even though I’ve dealt w it since 7th grade. I turned 60 this year. Trauma at the park running around fell on the edge of the sidewalk, perfectly landed on my coccyx. Took months to sit properly and years to watch a movie in a theater all the way. Through the years I’ve had problems with lower back, neck, shoulders, sciatic pain, degenerative disease, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. In 10th grade woke up for school and could not move neck in severe pain. Had acupuncture back then in a very small town. Chiropractors at neighbor going to school saw due to neck and lower back SI. Since then it’s been chiropractors, doctors, MRI’s, CT’s, physical therapy over and over for many years.The pain is always there especially in lower region as you showed “SI”, tailbone, lower back, neck, shoulders and headaches. My right side is out now and very painful even without the touch. Painful to sit have tried many different devices. Looking for something new. I've been using heat and ice for years forgot about that tried every cream and pad on the market. Nothing helps. While your getting treated maybe some relief when they quit it starts all over. Rehabilitation worked and they tried electrical stimulation. After it quits working. If I brush my teeth, wash dishes, run errands, wash clothes, pick something up my SI flares up. Then my sciatic flares up. Had a few strokes so over the years this has not helped in the nerve area. The left side from hip down to me toes gives me problems. Stand to long or on feet to long then my back, legs and feet hurt worse than having three babies natural. I’m in severe pain all the time. I’m tired of it and if what your talking about will help this would be my miracle. So thank you. I forgot to write your name down my bad I’ll do that after this long post. Take care and many blessings!

Good video, very informative. As you were describing the symptoms of SI Joint instability, I was mentally checking almost every box. My injuries happened over 20 years ago when I had 2 hard falls onto my right butt cheek with my wallet being right there. I had problems for a few years where if I sat for long periods of time my right leg would go numb. Recently in a twisting fall with my foot stuck, I pretty much destroyed my ankle requiring surgery with a plate, screws, a tight rope and ligament reattachment. Since then using crutches and a knee scooter to get around has caused a flame up of a lot of the old problems. I am so glad I saw this video an plan on contacting a local chiropractor for treatment along with getting the belt. Thanks for giving me a direction to head.

You’ve explained what I felt all along when the muscle is swollen and I honestly felt the ligaments “ping” as they catch, it can render me frozen for about 30 seconds the pain is so bad. Thank you a thousand times. Much gratitude from the UK. ❤❤❤

This is one of the most helpful explanations I have seen. I have been involved in back injury prevention as a safety professional and risk manager since 1978, including dozens of workshops, seminars and hundreds of hours of training. Especially appreciated your careful explanation of how a person can do things they "think" or feel makes them better, when it only lasts a short time. I also appreciate your caution against high force "hear the crack" manipulation in this particular injury. Lax joints really don't need more stressful motions pulling them apart. Thank you very much.

It's been about two months since I discovered this video. I purchased the belt and supplement. After 6 weeks I was cured. Your diagnosis was spot on and I committed to the process. Once I properly placed the belt on. Everything changed for the better. Thanks Doc! 🙏🏿

@@PositiveMotionChiro Hi I have just discovered your videos and am feeling encouraged to try your recommendations. Like many others who have written I have suffered for 7years with SI joint pain and seen physio, doctors, chiropractors with no long term cure. I am sure I have muscle/core weakness so am very keen to purchase the trochanteric belt and ligaplex 1 supplement but cannot find the links you mentioned. Could you please send them to me. I live in NZ so hope they will ship there. I have also noted down your exercises. Many thanks. Heather

@@Btrutaltruth ligaplex2. The doctor said it was the patient choice. Wearing the belt properly is key. It's uncomfortable at first but I would wear for about 12 hours a day.

You have helped me so much understand things better. Bought the belt and will use it. I walk in a pool to get myself moving but thought lunge stretches and yoga was the key. I learned from you to not push that. Thankyou! I also saw your SI joint exercises and am faithfully doing them.

I've had this three times in my life over the last 10 years and it is the most debilitating pain I have ever experienced, especially as it prevents you from being mobile. Can't stand, can't sit, can't lie down without being in pain, it's horrible. The last time I had it was last year, and I stumbled on a YT video that showed me some stretches that began improvement within a few days, and within a couple of weeks I was back to my old self. I feel for anyone who experiences this condition and isn't able to get diagnosed and treated by a knowledgeable practitioner, it truly is hell on earth.

Thank you for this very informative video. For the past 5+ years, I have been dealing with lower back pain/hip pain that primarily manifests itself while walking. My original orthopedist thought it was due to a mild anterolisthesis between my L4 and L5 and prescribed physical therapy, which produced limited results. Sounded familiar while watching your video. I then changed orthopedists after he retired, and my new orthopedist diagnosed it as an SI joint issue as the pain is offset to the right. He gave me some exercises to target the SI joint, but it wasn't until he suggested trying an SI joint hip belt that I finally noticed something different when I go walking. Just about every point you made that wasn't trauma related hit home, and now I understand why. This gives me renewed hope at recovery!

I cannot thank you enough for sharing this priceless information. I have been suffering for the past 2 years with horrible lower back pain which radiates into my glutes and down my leg. My back went out a few months ago and I was incapacitated. My legs wouldn't work and the pain was horrific. I could not afford a trochanteric belt so I grabbed a large scarf from my closet and tied it snug around my hips where you said the belt should be placed. I've been wearing it daily for about 4 days and now the pain in my glutes, legs, and lower back is almost non-existent. I was beginning to get so depressed from the chronic pain everyday. Thank you so much for your help. I hope you are blessed beyond measure for it. ❤️

I know this video is over 2yrs old but I had to tell you that it was this video that helped me with my 2.5 yr battle with debilitating pain in my back. Hard to sit or stand even for short periods at a time. I've spent 90% of my time having to lay down to avoid the pain. I slipped into a depression I've never known before because of it. The doctors only wanted to prescribe meds. I did physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, ice/heat...you name it. Nobody ever told me about the possibility of SI joint instability or the trochanteric belt. After watching this video, I bought one. And let me tell you that immediately I felt so much relief and felt super supported exactly where it needed just like the story you told. All this time now that has been spent in pain🤦‍♀️... Thank you so very much for helping this mama of 3. 🤗hugs
