Even though I'm moving to smart switches now, I tend to prefer the Lifx bulbs for 2 reasons. 1. They remember their last powered state, so if power goes out in the middle of the night they won't wake you when the power comes back on. 2. They are able to be locally controlled, so if the internet drops or lags, you can still control them on your local wireless network from the app. I used to use the Sengled bulbs, which are great, but when I lost power I lost the ability to control all my bulbs. Things to think about.

Hi Reed. I'm looking for Paul. Is Paul here? I'm a Wyze bulb fan too. The color ones are great. I also have a Wyze Sensor which is on my mailbox. How did it meet that range
@daveschmarder-19502 жыл бұрын
@@SpaceStrike The distance is about 15m or just under 50 feet between the sensor and the bridge that the sensor talks to. My mailbox is plastic, so there is no signal attenuation. When I tested it a couple years ago, the range extended to across the street. I've had this going for a couple years now, with only having to change the battery now and again and rebooting the camera with hub mostly after updates. I did attach the sensor with hook & loop material as I wasn't happy with the silicon rubber sealant that I first tried. Makes it easier to change the battery. Hope this helps you. Best wishes.

@daveschmarder-19502 жыл бұрын
@@SpaceStrike The metal mailbox is likely the problem. You can test your sensors by holding them and varying the distance. I also wonder if the metal would interfere with the magnetic sensor? It looks like Wyze has some new sensors, but they might be tied to a subscription. If they become available otherwise, I may change, but then again, mine aren't broken.

@SteveInScotland2 жыл бұрын
But are LIFX and Wyze overdriving their LEDs by running them at their max output, if so that’s why your seeing a difference but you’d also get much shorter life than the Hue. I’m going to get that’s it. I’ve had other brands fail but never a Hue.
@dnoland772 жыл бұрын
With the price difference between wyze and hue, is lifespan really a factor? While the wyze is a nice bulb it is very slow to respond. Not ideal as a primary light source when using motion or contact sensors.

I've had 2 Hue white bulbs fail on me with only about a month and a half of use, and only running at about 10% brightness (used in a ceiling fan light fixture above my desk for work). How could I figure out a routine for my apartment that has a motion sensor but it keeps triggering my lights on when I want them off if I voice command them off? Thanks Great video
@jester47612 жыл бұрын
For what you want, it sounds like you need a motion sensor, and a smart switch. With Alexa you can set the motion to trigger the switch. Alexa would also be able to control the switch by voice, AND you should be able to toggle the switch too if you wanted. Just make sure you buy a smart switch, and NOT a device that goes over the current toggle if you have more than one switch for the same light. Smart switches are smarter. Devices that cover a current toggle can connect to Alexa, but are too dumb to know if you toggle them by hand if you have more than one switch for the same light. Your looking to spend about 20 for a good motion sensor, and about 40 for a basic smart switch without going too cheap. Hope that helps.

@jester47612 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-ni6qk ok. I see what you mean. When creating the routine you absolutely can set a time frame. You could set the motion to turn them on. Then create another routine that turns the light off after 5 minutes of no motion. You could even set them to be on with motion, dim after 5, and then off at 10. Basically you need two routines. One for on with motion, and one for off with no motion after a time frame.
@ToniHinton2 жыл бұрын
@@jester4761 I have a routine that does exactly this in my and my husband's offices. It works well for that purpose but that's not what @Alex is looking for. What he's describing is, say, walking into the living room and having the motion sensor turn on the lights. He then settles in to watch a movie and verbally turns them off. He wants them to stay off, but if he moves, it triggers the sensor and the lights come back on. I'm not heavy on routines, so I can't help much, but maybe someone else around here can?
