I saw an exhibition a few years ago. Steve Davis, Ken Doherty and Jimmy White. Jimmy was very quiet and shy. Ken was very friendly and full of banter but Steve stole the show with his stories and showmanship. He's a class act and a genuinely nice man. Worth every penny to go and see!

Funny you should say, I went to see Mark Williams and he didn't say a word on mic,I mean he didn't say a word.on tour he's meant to be a bit of a joker,then I saw Steve Davis...he had the room in the palm of his hand.he was hilarious,so was his snooker...his highest break was only 75 in 10 frames. Great night

He got the reputation because when he was at his peak and winning things, he was all business and mind games when it came to playing snooker. He's a brilliant guy though really. 🙂

Still the ultimate professional. Raised the bar to a level never seen before, single handedly with no one in his league to push him further. Sad to see his decline through the nineties but most of us hit our peak, plateau then drop off. Its hard for the younger generation to actually appreciate how he consumed and devastated his opponents. Most clips on you tube show his misses and bloopers but in reality they were few and far between. Ronnie o sullivan at the top but then Davis and hendry, then Higgins and selby, then trump followed by the rest.
@jaysmith28583 жыл бұрын
@@christiano8088 Davis has been and still is snooker's greatest ambassador. O'Scumivan may be the most 'naturally gifted' player, but he'll never be respected anywhere near as much as the likes of Davis, Hendry, Readon etc.

@@jaysmith2858 i agree with you Jay..cannot stand O'Sullivan at all..arrogant and very rude and nasty man..I think Davis is the better player.. Ronnie has the flair yes..but Davis has the more all round game and it was him that started the snooker revolution and made the game what it is today..love him commentating or doing his punditry..so funny..realised this when he appeared on I'm a celebrity..damn he was funny abd didn't take himself seriously at all..should have placed higher but don't think all of the voting public realised who he was

I grew up with this guy in Commowealth way, Abbey wood. I knew that whatever he did he would do it well. Pretty good at football too. We used to play keeping the ball up, which amounted not letting the football touch the ground, using feet knees and nut. So, I got about ten. My mate Terry had a go, I went in for my dinner. When I came out, Steve is having a go, so I says to Terry how many did you get? 50 he says, so asks Steve what he was on, as a reply he starts counting out loud, 96, 97, 98. The future world champion’s name was already written on the wall at the age of ten. It was just a matter of Steve choosing what he wanted to be champion of.
