S90C was such a good fit for me. So glad I didn’t overspend on something else. Don’t overthink it - figure out what you’re after (for me it was best bang for the buck oled) and then go get it. I worried endlessly for nothing.

I seriously don’t understand on why people are still clinging to their 10+ year old plasma’s thinking modern TVs aren’t better than it. Any OLED TV made in the last 4 years will crush any Plasma ever made.

I was considering a $1500 oled to upgrade my 46" plasma. Found a 60" Panny ST50 plasma for $70 on FB Marketplace. Wish it was a 65" but glad I still have the extra $1400 in my bank account. Picture is still very nice.

I'll step in and say the Samsung Q990C system I have is INSANE! There is sound EVERYWHERE, and it is crisp, detailed, and just jaw dropping. Samsung's audio imaging for this system is exquisite.

3rded, I have the 990B, great living room setup, easy, clutter free, and performs so well, I have to keep it turned down and the sub like -10db to watch stuff at night or the neighbor comes pounding. and for $665 refurbed, best money spent.

I agree with the advice re. elevating the L & R speakers. However, both in my condo and my mom's condo, i have surround speakers set up (via a Marantz receiver and a Sonos soundbar setup, respectively) where the channels are on either end of the couch and the effects are still pretty convincing.

On my current TV ( 55" TCL 615) I've had an issue when displaying content that includes panning over a high contrast pattern (such as the speakers around the 8:00 mark of this video) the brightness fluctuates dramatically, creating a distracting strobe-like effect. Is there a term for this phenomenon and are any particular TV types less prone to this? (Or are there settings that might reduce this on the one I have?)

Hello Caleb...just watching this and was going to add that you are right about getting a last years model...I have been interested in an OLED even though I noticed the trend to mini LED...about 6 months ago I had the chance to get a New old stock 55" A90J Sony for just at $700 from BBuy...but it was manufactured in 2023 according to the label (only had 4 left) ...Looks fantastic...it should hold my intrest till the next great TV in a couple of years....love the show !!!!

Have been looking at the s90c very closely.... also, been looking at new sound systems for so many years now. Really looking at the sonos option, seems a winner. We love the idea of the whole of home music thing as we already have a sonos roam and it is super impressive for its size

My question is related to my audio setup ..so i currently have the Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite 7.2.4 setup with the TV I am thinking about doing either a sonos or bose home theater setup sonos: Sonos Arc soundbar Sonos era 300 (qty 2) Sonos Sub (Gen 3) I checked out your review for this one which got me interested Bose: Bose Smart Soundbar 900 Bose Surround Speakers 700 Bose Bass Module 700 Keep in mind my main concern is movies and TV shows i dont listen to music that much. I will not be using an apple phone for the setup I'm in the android eco system. Would love to get your recommendation. Thanks!

Man, I gotta decide what to do with my audio situation. Gaming PC with a gsync monitor vía displayport, hooked up to an old Denon receiver via optical. But no surround because optical. I don't think any new receivers pass gsync through, do they? I'm thinking I might need a soundcard that can encode dolby digital live, or just hook up audio through the analog speaker connections. HDMI isn't an option, because I lose gsync and HDR.

Upgrading to the latest model - when is it worth it? When you do reviews, particularly on the flagship tv’s, could you possibly add a brief section letting folks know when it would be a good time to upgrade their tv? Example, I have the LG G1 (love it), and it would be really helpful to know if it’s worthwhile upgrading to the G4? Really enjoy the reviews, keep it up!

So my wife and I watch most of our movies in bed in our bedroom. We have a jbl 2.1 soundbar with subwoofer but I’ve always dreamt of a more immersive sound experience. I don’t think rear surrounds would work because our headboard is already against the wall. Any way to get around this or should I just go for soundbar like the Sonos arc with virtual Dolby atmos???? Please help

I got a used LG SN11RG paired with my 65in LG C2. The bar only cost me $465 (retailed for $1,600) and it sounds absolutely amazing and does a really good job at creating a bubble of sound but your ceiling can’t be too high though.

Can you please caveat recommending the Hisense TV's for UK / European market that their TV operating systems are not Google TV, but VIDDA which is clearly not as good! It's only Google TV in the USA. Almost bought the Hisense, but luckily found this out before purchasing and changed to the TCL. Great TV, thanks for your helpful and enjoyable reviews Caleb👍

6:45 yep, last week I bought a 2023 Samsung mini-LED for half price. Was an open box and brand new. Best Buy are in fire-sale mode to move old TV's. Man I'd love to go with an OLED but mini-LED QLED looks so damn good nowadays and OLED prices just aren't budging enough to compete with mini-LED deals.

Anyone interested in a decent multi speaker Atmos setup. Last October I purchased the Klipsch R-625FA 5.0 home theater pack with a Klipsch R-12sw Sub. Using a Denon AVR-S760H and LG C2, it's a perfect setup for my living room. The up firing Atmos speaker work great. Coming from an old 2014 Onkyo Home Theater in a Box, I can't believe the clarity of sound. A buddy of mine who has a Klipsch home theater setup twice the price of mine even said he was impressed.

Thanks for answering the question about upgrading from plasma. My question is what is the break-even, and/or the “worth it” point to upgrading? If you have a 2013 Panasonic plasma or a 2008 Pioneer Kuro, is a Hisense U6k better? What about the U7k? U8k? I’m guessing my “mid range” you are inferring the u7k as that’s basically the definition of that word but just want to be clear on how much you probably have to spend to see something better.

Personally I had a Panasonic VT50 which in 2012 was the best tv ever made according to many tv reviews. However I decided to take the plunge to OLED and got a sweet deal on a Sony Master Series for $1200. The biggest change I noticed was the colors. I mean there is truly no comparison and combined with 4k it is very noticeable.

With the almost strangled world shipping situation, depending on where you are, shipping products has gotten very much more expensive. It's still running reasonably OK from Asia to US West Coast, but is much more problematic for shipping to the East Coast, where most customers are. Product now is mostly trans-shipped by train and truck from the West, as Panama Canal traffic is backed up for months currently.

The question about upgrading to a soundbar system from the Basic system is no doubt a huge difference in every aspect!! q990C is IMO the best choice! Make sure proper placement of the rear speakers is applied! Also, if your ceiling is higher than 9”, the Sony system may be better. 🎉

Plasma vs upgrading. Isnt a key point the increase in resolution? Some plasmas were 720 p. I dont know what his is but 4k wasnt even a thing then. Buying plasma meant that quality was important. Doubt there is a reason to ponder any more snce the question has come up. Budget is the only consideration today.

I love my 800.o ca. Klipsch. The 3000. H-9 Sony and especially its muddy sub-woofer and lack of responsive control (volume) mid range adjustability (not there) are a huge disappointment, its not an opinion I am pianist and always in pursuit of a nuisanced sound a quest for perfection. I guess it depends on the remaining inventory of a particular 2023 model. Chances are if you’re in a market for one it’s probably safe to get it now without worries of it going lower.

Inventory should still be on sale in April and May for 2023 models. I got my C1 in March 2022 and was able to get refunds on two separate price drops after in April and May at Best Buy while I was still in the return window. Hopefully this year is similar for TVs and they drop in spring until they’re gone.

Watch that work life balance man. I know it can get fuzzy when you're really in to a thing, and work, doesn't always feel like work, but at the end of the day as far as I know, this (youtube) isn't a personal grind for you, you need some you time, probably more than you get, away from the grind of comments and social media. Just be careful, no one should be doing their job and hobby for 12-16 hours a day.

For $1,000 I would go with soundbar. But if you have a few hundred more I would say home theatre. I say this because with home theatre you get a lot better front left and right sound than you do with a soundbar unless you do what a lot of people do and put the front left and right speakers next to the TV. If you're spacing the front speakers as wide as you can you will notice a big difference. It sounds a lot better. I've heard the Samsung q990b and I could tell all the front sound was coming from the soundbar and localised to one area. I'm not against soundbars. I have a Polk audio React with the subwoofer and surround speakers. I also have a half decent 6.1 surround system. I have my front left and right speakers four foot away from my TV and center under my TV and the front speaker desperation sounds a lot better than the soundbars.

@@trewright1482 Can often be found cheaper, especially if you don't mind that they're "open box" or refurbished. I've seen them for sale on "E" (not gonna spell the name out since it seems it might get the comment flagged as spam) from a licensed reseller in the $1000 to $1100 range.

1st time I've heard anyone recommend a soundbar over an AVR and speakers. Monoprice 5.1.4 speakers $210 + Onkyo TX-NR7100 $640 leaves $150 for speaker wire, stands, and banana plugs.

That’s definitely the way I would go. But spending $1,500 on a system would be your best bet. It would be worth the additional cost to maybe get a better sub or speaker package.

Soundbars are for those that have to deal with compromises. The most expensive soundbar ever can just barely keep up with a middle of the road home theater 5.1 system. Remember kids, the bigger the speaker the better the sound. Soundbars have super tiny drivers in them.

Soundbars are great for those who don’t have the money for big systems, and for those who don’t have the room for big systems, and for those who live in apartments and can’t have a nice beefy subwoofer

This used to be the case, but high-end systems like the Nakamichi Dragon and Samsung Q990C outclass similarly priced home theater setups. You can easily build a better HT setup with a receiver and dedicated satellite speakers, but it's going to cost way more.

When you get rear speakers involved with a sound bar package you might as well just get AVR and speakers. The whole point of a sound bar is less clutter.

I was looking for a sound bar and just opted for two full sized HomePods and I don’t regret it. The sound is surprisingly large and rewatching Dune 1, to then watch Dune 2 the next day was such a treat

Sound ok but can you add a subwoofer? Adding a sub to a sound bar can make a huge difference.

I have an LG C2 and had gotten the LG flagship soundbar. Thought they would work well together since both were LG. The soundbar was overpriced and not worth it. LG makes a good panel but their soundbar design needs work.

Biggest mistake in my opinion is to think that this game is a Sprint. It's not. It's a marathon. You don't get awards or a leaderboard to say hey. I finished the game in 1 hour. For example. Just enjoy relax play it. It's solo anyways

Not everyone wants to have all the equipment. I had it for forty years and love the simplicity of my Sonos system. But, I'm not a critical listener, either - mostly broadcast TV. If I watched high-end content, then yes, a 5.1 for sure.

Same. I absolutely HATE soundbars. I have a Sony AVR from 2017. I probably will upgrade after I upgrade my subwoofer. I haven’t heard a soundbar that I was satisfied with and the fact you can’t upgrade one component at a time I can’t stand.

Ditto here. I have a Yamaha and an older Denon I kept as a backup. In addition of not being as good as a proper AVR system the soundbar will never be able to even come close to 5.1 or 7.1 music surround which can be just so amazing.

I just want to say that sound bars were not made for homes that are approximately 15 feet apart and I wish my neighbors had theirs up their butts. When I can hear all the words to the music and know what movie you're watching, I'd say it's loud enough. Paying to be annoyed.
