Nice video, I don't know if you have already done this but an idea I have for a future video is recommending different software to use for a complete animation work flow and covers the entire pipeline. A lot of artists are one man studios and it would be nice to also recommend software to write scripts, record and edit audio, storyboarding, animation, vfx and for final compositing/editing. I know that would be a lot to cover but it's just a suggestion 😅

Krita has a panel to create storyboards which is very powerful

I think I like the Wonder Unit open source one...I'll go to their site now and see if it's easy to use. I don't have days or weeks to figure out this stuff, if not, there's always paper canvass and crayons...lol

It's a cintiq wacom, I think. It's expensive, I personally recommend the Xp pen one, but there's a lot of other alternatives

Thanks for the video! You asked for suggestions: Blender!! It's free and open source and does everything any of those other tools do, and way more. Now that Grease Pencil is a full fledged part of Blender, the only question is what sort of workflow you want to use. Even if you choose not to recommend it, any video on this topic will be incomplete without at least an explanation of *why* you chose not to recommend blender. Thanks and be well!

Blender is not a storyboard software. You could do storyboard with it, but it's meant for animation, same reason why harmony or adobe animate were not mentioned in the video

@@PeperoneOfficial That's a very strange reply. First of all blender is not "meant for animation". It's meant for whatever people can think to do with it. And second, if it's great for something, it's great for something. Blender is way better than all of the tools in your video, for exactly the thing you are measuring in your video. But you don't include it...because... nothing, apparently.

@@zackrobat you mean to tell me that blender is better at storyboard than a 1000 dollar software that was meant for storyboard and nothing else (storyboard pro)

@@zackrobat also i didn't say it was meant for animation, it's not meant for storyboard, since there are absolutely no tools meant for storyboard. It's like animating in PowerPoint, you could do it, but the software was not created for that

It's generally a bad idea for the creative field to use a web based app. As your ideas and works are in one way or another either the actual work or a copy. Is stored on a server that does not physically belong to you. I think, at a certain point, the demand for stand alone software's (which does not require online connections and storage.) Will become important as more individuals in the creative field become aware of how technology works. And the vulnerability of their creative works are to intellectual thief. Through online apps/software and services.

ToonBoom Storyboard Pro looks obscenely overpriced, even for all the tools it give you. Its sub price is greater than the all-in-one price for ALL of Adobe's softwares. So you can get Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate Pro, Dreamweaver, Premiere, AfterEffects, etc. etc. for less than the cost of StoryBoard Pro. Not only that, but the tryout period is only 21 days instead of the usual month. So, basically $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's almost like you need a million dollar animation studio to use storyboard pro $500 a year Per seat get out of here with that man even if I had a small studio with a team in it especially with the way the economy is today they're asking for too much!

Ye, and most of this stuff people get, pay for, use a few times, and forget they have it while still getting billed. Is why at least twice a year I change my debt and credit cards, to flush out all the payments I forgot I was making. Everyone should do that.

Your videos are amazing, but I truly hate that the thumbnails and some shots in the video contain anime spoils. I, and many people like me, are here for educational purposes, but we end up with an anime spoil that will ruin the whole experience and entertainment for the fan. Please, don't use anime pictures in your thumbnails, and if you include any scene from an anime, at least have a spoiler alert in the video. Other than that, thank you for the content, your work is helpful.

... considering that most animators USE anime as a means of reference you asking to avoid spoilers doen't make any sesne -- animators study animation. So there's going to be anime references in ANY if not MOST animation based videos, and i don't think any content creator needs to censor their work ONTOP of creating good quality content because people out there can't adult and deal with the emotional outlay of having something spoiled. You're not 10 sir. People who want to animate and who animate watch random animations with no context to the story, or irregardless if a story is being spoiled to them. We're here to study animation and see what is out there for animation programs. Not get something spoiled that was released 8 months ago -_-
