I have a capsule wardrobe that's mostly black, navy, and white. But my hair is too thin to style so I like to wrap with scarves which add a lot of color and flair. As a bonus, they are inexpensive. Another challenge is that I'm an apple shape, so I often wear skirts. In cold weather, I may wear a knee-length, A-line skirt with tights or leggings underneath. I've been rebuilding my wardrobe for 8 months, and am pleased with how it's going.

Well......My wardrobe looks like I live in the movie Cinderella. The version with Brandi and Whitney Houston. But my favorite piece of clothing in the whole world is a man's V neck white T shirt. 🤔😏. And I live in Florida where it's so hot and humid and I'm now old. Only in my dreams could someone figure out my style. Craziness.

I bet if you showed someone who doesn't know you some of your favorite outfits, they'd be able to put you in a category. Like you, some of my favorite pieces are men's. Have these two v-neck cashmere sweaters that I got from the thrift shop that are definitely men's and I rock those every fall baby! 💚

I enjoy your videos so much. I especially appreciate that you use yourself as the model, and that you use a variety of photos of women who are not pencil thin. As a more "curvy" woman, I appreciate this.

I am what is called “color forward”, I love color, I like new colors sometimes that are popular. But I still always have my basics like black, and red and dark denim. But yeah when Olive green came back in style a few years ago, I tried buying as much as I could cause I never get sick of how cool I look in that color either 😁😄😆

I also think that Japanese and Korean street style is almost a minimalist category in itself. Lots of really oversized pieces, strong layering, usually monochromatic and neutral colours.

Hey Emily! Just found you and I’m VERY happy! I’m 180cm, 170lb, 55 y o rectangle shape who has never had a personal style! I’m getting there though! I’m a boyfriend Jean/T-shirt kinda gal. I make most of my clothes. Would you ever consider a video showing sewing patterns for different styles, rather than pieces? Sort of a Make Your Own 5 piece Capsule for different styles??

I have been choosing classic pieces in bold prints that go with my palette . What does that make me? I do wear them with black pants and black boots always. I am more about feminine tops which are usually in a bold print with a black blazer or long black cardi. I think I am a minimalist but the bold prints of my tops are not. I am never sure

At last, simple, clear advice which resonates with me, I feel comfortable with (and now know I always have been a 'garcon' style type), a huge relief, as I worried I wasn't 'feminine' enough?? Also love the 'edgy chic' and 'classic chic' styles, all of these look very feminine/sexy and they are me yay! Also a real contrast to some other you tubers who seem to shop all the time and have so much, I love the capsule wardrobe idea and have been working on this for a while now, thank you!

Thank you so much, seriously thank you! This is the first time I have heard of Garconne style and it is me to a tee 😊 It is a relief to have this one word that embodies my preferred aesthetic. I have thought what a mish mosh I am: classic, minimal, some feminine but def not too much, some masculine but not entirely, and so on. Now I have this lovely word that will make my inspiration searches much easier and more productive. Have been watching for quite a while now Emily and always look forward to your videos. ❤️

My challenge is combining classic, minimalist, and romantic. I love the clean lines and neutral colors. However, I can’t resist romantic details. I try to go for contrast, but it doesn’t look cohesive.

@@EmilyWheatley thank you for that perspective. I also wanted to just say "thank you" for your channel. I first "found" you while recovering from an emergency hysterectomy. I felt so "outside" of my body. Thinking about style helped me to return to myself. It must be difficult to have two YT channels while pregnant with twins and raising a young son and having a husband who all need your attention. I like garconne style! Wished I can pull it off. I have a busty glass figure, and I just don’t feel like it looks good on me like it should. I think it goes better with tall, thin, boyish frame. Overall, love all the styles mentioned.

I'm finding it challenging to incorporate feminine pieces. I'm very specific about what I like but I put something on and objectively, it looks good, but just not on me because I think I look too masculine. I have similar hair to you Emily (I actually took a screenshot of you to the hairdresser eep) and I love it but It adds to my dilemma. I'm also tall and broad, sigh. Can you please do a video on what types of clothing feminine without being flouncy if you know what I mean?
