James, as much as I think Tesla's technology/charging infrastructure is the best, I will not buy another one. The build quality and lack of any "luxury" leaves so much to be desired. Great to see that you're looking at the new M4C. I haven't read much about them, but have seen videos how superior of a ride they are. Can I convince you to pick up a GT4 to accompany the 911?

@TheAutomotiveFanatic I tried relentlessly to get a GT4 RS allocation. No one in the country would give me one. I had dealerships willing to give me an allocation starting at $100,000 MSRP , bidding up from there. I am keeping the 21 911 C4S and getting that M4 C XDrive because of the potential of modifying that platform. Stock they are rated at 510 ish hp, 480 ish torque. Have been proven to run 0-60 in 2.8 and 1/4 mile in high 10s, low 11s. I want it essentially to be a German Muscle Car. Simple Stage 1 tuning gets it into low 10s. $5-$6k in bolt ons and Stage 2 tune gets them into the 9s. Bunch of guys from my local car groups frequent the drag strips here, I want a car to participate, without modifying my 911. If I got a GT4 or GT4 RS I would not modify it, except perhaps exhaust and intake. While the drag runs would be fun I would not be able to really compete. Friends are running built Mustang GT500s, built Camaro ZL1s, built Corvette ZR1s, built Hellcats ect.... Even Tesla S Plaid (same buddy with a built GT500).

@@bladejames8208 I get it now. The G series motors are unbelievable. I have a good friend who had every imaginable bolt on a M2 without engine rebuilt, dyno close to 700 at the rear wheels. With the newer ones, they are even more deadly. Like you said, a few thousand in bolt ons would net a high 9, low 10sec car, no problem.

@TheAutomotiveFanatic Exactly..... Past BMW reliability was always the question, rod bearings, oil leaks, water pumps ect.... Plus I was only luke warm to the design language. I have always preferred, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Acura , even Mercedes design language vs the previous BMW products. The new G80/G82/G83 series (big grille M3/M4) I have like the design language from the start. Where BMW traditionalist have seen the design, grill in particular as extremely devisive. I an not the BMW traditionalist so, the very aggressive new language of these cars has appealed to me. On top of the the new 21-24 M3s/M4s have that wonderful new S58 straight 6cyl 3.0 twin turbocharged engine.... churning out healthy 510 hp and 480 ftlbs tq according to BMW , which they severely underate. The M4 Competition XDrive on paper is supposed to hit 60mph in 3.4 seconds however, motoring journalists are able to get consistent 2.8 0-60 out of this car. Yeah with basic mods, race downpipe , upgraded exhaust, upgraded intake and say a simple stage 2 custom 93 octane tune the car should be 700+ wheel hp for just a few thousand dollars. Go with upgraded turbos, charge cooler, charge pipes, meth, transmission build (may be required) and on an E85 or other stage 3/4 map the car should safely be a 900+ wheel hp car. This all can be done for around 20k including labor. We are then talking a high 7 second, low 8 second 1/4 mile car that with switchable maps should be also a compliant daily driver street car still . Looking forward to the building this car , enjoying the process, getting into the 1/4 mile drag strip hobby. 👌

@TheAutomotiveFanatic BTW, I placed my custom order today, signed my buyers order, put the deposit down and got my cars build tracking number. It should go into production at the end of this month and I will likely have it very late October to very early December at the latest. I am excited receive this car and begin a car build project again 🙌

Thanks for your input. On the Model Y, there is really no true "grill". It's just 3-4 plastic bars which run across the open. Placing the license plate holder there does not pierce or forcefully open anything up. In fact, the plate protects what is directly behind it from road debris. Perhaps some Teslas have an actual grill with many slits that I am not aware of.

@@TheAutomotiveFanatic you missed the point about there’s an accessory that’s available to shield the components and it goes in front of the stock lower grill and it protects things behind the grill from road debris like rocks etc that can has damaged components but still allows the air to flow . Once that’s inserted this license plate holder would have an issue holding onto the stock lower grill because now there’s an insert there.

@@XX-166 Thanks for the explanation. I was trying to figure out where you were coming from as I never discussed someone using this license plate on an aftermarket grill protector.

@@TheAutomotiveFanatic you’re welcome, that lower grill accessory stops road debris from entering the items behind the bumper that can cause damage. But it could interfere with that clamp on license plate holder unfortunately.
