I have to say, I really like the Fluke leads - great flexibility, and they stay flexible, plus the retractable tip covers don't get lost. I have had PVC leads that started flexible but after a year or two, or when out in the cold, they aren't flexible. The only thing feature I'd change on the Fluke leads, is I'd like a slightly bigger "finger guard." I'd never consider the first set you showed. I press hard against that ring to ensure my probe doesn't slip, and I don't want my fingers to slip off down to the tip and whatever is there where I'm probing. When your fingers are a bit cold and stiff or tired at the end of a day, you don't need a little pencil probe that you need delicate touch to stay safe.

It is very curious why FLUKE packages the leads they do, and so many people comment on them? You’d think they might ‘step up’ their game and spend a few pennies more and supply better leads? Times are tough out there for all of us, and Companies too, I suppose. So, You see any issue with using Klein leads on a Fluke? I know, heresy! 😯 😂 Take care! Stay safe!

Thank you! I am baffled that they don't try to kick some but and use their sister company (Pomona) to give them awesome leads to shut people up and put smiles on faces... There is no issue using Klein leads. Most meters are using the same size of banana jacks. There are just too many banana type leads out there that everyone wants to be able to use.

I love my Probe Master leads and I'll never own leads again that have probes permanently attached. I find it far more useful to have multiple quick-change attachments.

My second meter was a Fieldpiece and it's a tank. The leads were silicone and were also pretty strong but they eventually broke. Those probes beat the snot outta the fluke standard probes. I just did a shallow dive on the different types of PVC and the confuzer says that flexible PVC is called PVC-P because they put plasticizes in it. So they got different recipes for the flexible stuff and certain chemicals cost more than others.

@@KissAnalog When I first got them I thought they'd be too frail or delivate to last. Looks can be deceiving as the saying goes. My set are still drawing blood and show now signs of retirement in 4 years of nearly daily use on my bench. Anyway, thanks for the info as always

As an HVAC tech you only have to fry one board to see the importance of the FLUKE TL-175 with the retractable gards. Testing low voltage wire you need the long tips, getting into a control board with high and low voltage on the circut you need the guards. P.S. The 87 Ⅴ MAX they came with is pretty nice as well. How did I function without it? Being able to see peak to peak voltage on an EMS system, true RMS voltage on a drive and comparing it to the higher voltage at the motor. I could go on and on, if you question its price of a higher end DMM it's probably not the meter for you.

@@KissAnalog As a ham who works on Mountain top radio sites I know the importance of a 20k DMM. If I was buying more of a bench meter the Hioki would be my first choice. A 6k DMM is plenty in HVAC. The Drop and IP65 were big selling points on the MAX over the 87 V. As a commercial HVAC tech I work in the rain and some times things get wet or fall. The ability to see Peak and Peak to Peak voltage is great for a quick test, without having to go back to the van to get the O-scope. Not that I keep up with the Jones'es but when someone looks at my meter they know it is a recognized standard. I don't have to explain what it is. I secretly scrutinize people for the DMM's they carry. Like the fieldpiece junk! I carried one for years. That crap will get you killed because it reads 0.00 while its ranging! How did that ever get a UL cert. 0.00 ya were good to go! NO! Don't get me wrong FP electronic gauges and temp probes are pretty good but not their DMM's Their DMM Probes were okay, nothing special, the gold rubs off with repeated use.
