Montolit Rubber Mat for Masterpiuma -- amzn.to/2DVT0kn
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, the Masterpiuma comes in a variety of sizes. We wanted the 25"x25" because it can cut 12"x24" tiles.
This could eliminate the use of a wet tile saw, which is a time saver.
Also the Masterpiuma can cut glass tiles with the use of the Mosakit rubber mat. The mat prevents glass tiles from slipping and the white paint from chipping.
We tested the cutting capability of this tile cutter and showed how it can cut a 1/4" slice off 2"x2" tiles as well as a 1/2" cut off 12" tiles.
It easily makes 45 degree cuts in tile.
Watch our video for the details.

Our business has had the 36" version for just over a year now.... Hasn't failed us yet. I've been doing tile for 17 years and my son/partner learned how to use this quickly. Montolit did a great job with this tile cutter.

I needed a saw to cut stone tiles for a backsplash. kzfaq.infoUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I thought for sure I was going to need to buy a "better" blade than the one that came with this machine. I was surprised to see that blade worked great. Buying this saw was cheaper than renting and allowed me to take my time on the project. I wrapped the tiles (front and back) with blue painters tape and drew my cut lines with a sharpie on the tape. I performed all of my cuts free hand and had no trouble cutting the tile straight. There is a guide you can use to help with cuts if you prefer. This was my first tile job and this saw made it easy.

Good video. I’ve owned mine for 12 yrs now I’ve upgraded the handle from the original blue adjustable handle and pan springs 4years ago. Hands down it’s the Cadillac of cutters although you’ll always get the Sigma humpers who just can’t convert to a push handle instead of the pull. My personal favourite piece of this outstanding cutter is the blade. Made of titanium this blade never need to be changed. Bought a new blade in the first year and after using it there was no difference. To this day I still am on my first blade “crazy right” Would like to point out 1 tip on carrying it always place the handle up to the red rubber stopper before turning in the measurement arm, this locks it in place for carrying it.

I bought a hand held tile scorer and cutter from some English guy at a home show over 20 years ago for around $40, and still use it for all of my tile cutting needs today. Incredible tool that can easily do circles, patterns, squiggly lines, whatever you want from ceramic to glass and marble. Unfortunately I have no idea who he is (or was), but the guy should be given something like a Nobel prize from the DIY homeowners of the world!

Are the cuts clean enough to be in visible locations or they primarily cuts that need to be done for tiles that are getting covered by baseboard or for instance a towel on an inside corner that's going to get covered up by the edge of another tile. Can you achieve wet saw quality, or better cuts with this cutter on most tile?

Hello and thank you for the video, I used mine for the 1st time today. It does cut nice but I do feel that that the 45 deg is off on mine. I ended up cutting a few wrong that I noticed did not fit. I had to re adjust the 45 angle. one thing the company should look into is giving you a notch in the machine that as you turn the machine to a 45 it would hit the notch and your set. I noticed you are using the mat, can you send me a link for that please. I thank you

Thanks for your vids! I am debating between the Ishii Big Clinker or shelling out the funds for the Masterpiuma. Does the Ishii cut heavily textured porcelain well all the way to the end?? My Qep always cracks a slight curve at the far end 😖. Time for a higher end cutter. I’m not a pro , just a diy but want one that can make consistent full straight cuts up to 24” on hard textured porcelain.
@HomeRepairTutor
@HomeRepairTutor 4 жыл бұрын
quality of cuts also depends on tile but the Masterpiuma is our preferred cutter. Ishii makes good tools as well and their cutting wheels work very well. If you’re tiling occasionally we’d opt for the Ishii. If you’re doing a lot of tile work then go with the Masterpiuma. Either way, you can sell the cutter on Facebook and recoup a lot of your money.

Tried a 47m model. Clearly a serious bit of kit but hopeless on the textured tiles I had. Although the cutter was massive (to cut up to 62cm square), it had an oddly small cuttling wheel (8mm i think) which wouldn’t score cleanly due to the tile texture. Apparently they are porcelain glaze and ceramic underneath. I also needed to cut lengthways. Not a hope. Even tried scoring multiple times, shattered into several pieces. Tile shop now say i need a wet saw. So if you’re starting out on tiling like me, worth checking beforehand as the how to videos with these cutters make it look easier than it sometimes is. .

Is this cutter serviceable? I do work my machines hard and I have a tendency of pulling to the left when im scoring the tile (if that makes sense!) Over time the handles on my machines get a bit of play on the bar and subsequently tile does not score accurately point to point. The machines I use are not serviceable as the bearings are in a ball race that I cant replace. Always seems a shame to throw away long cutters when all that's needed is new bearings fitted.

You can buy parts for this cutter. Contractors Direct has a section for that. We've had our 36" cutter for just over a year and the only thing we've needed to replace was the cutting wheel. You cant cut marble with a manual tile cutter, especially mesh backs. If there is mesh, that means it has a lot of veins and that equates to weak spots in the stone. Any natural stone, marble, etc has to be cut with a wet saw or with a angle grinder with a water attachment .

This saw is fantastic in my opinion. Had a Rubi, wasn’t impressed. Exchanged it for this beast. To save yourself some money, don’t buy that overpriced rubber pad to cut mosaics. I used shelf liner. The pad doesn’t help with chipping of the white paint on the back of the tile. The snapping of the cutter prevents this from happening. The pad keeps the mosaic from sliding. The shelf liner prevents this for a fraction of the cost. Give it a try and thank me later. The snap cutter is $700+. More then my DeWalt wet saw. And I think that pad is $100??? Some crazy price, I felt it should have been included.

We've been looking at getting one and I definitely agree the mat should be included. They advertise it to cut glass mosaic so it should include everything needed to cut them successfully.

Our suggestion is to test the cut for each type of tile. But overall this is a great cutter

You’ll still be happy with the Ishii, I bought that before trying the Masterpiuma. For the price the Big Clinker is solid and I’m still happy with that purchase

Home Repair Tutor who uses a wet saw in a house? I’m betting you for the same price you paid for that. You can buy a decent wet saw. Just today for a $300 wet saw I cut 1/4” cuts down porcelain tile. Also if you are doing door jams, or anything that involves a box cut out, you need a saw. Tile slicers are good for speed, but just like you showed in your video slicers won’t always cut straight. I liked the video, but I don’t think this would be a good DIY person buy. But i deff think about buying it for my tile business.

That's kind of what I was thinking. My daughter has a small job to do in her kitchen (Backsplash) and will probably never use this tool ever again. Does anyone have any suggestions for her and I? I would guess that the entire job will be less than 15' long and 12-15" high.

You could price out a cheap wet saw from Harbor Freight vs renting one for a day. That’s what I’d probably do. Where do you live? I could loan you a wet saw if you’re near Pittsburgh

Totally understand, this tile cutter is geared more for a tile setter or contractor, someone who will use it every day or every week.
