Thanks Keith, I need knowledge about using rotary lazers levels, I found a very usefull addition to using one and that is a device by Spectra Precision CR700 Combination Laser Receiver that is magnetic that you can attach it to a Skidsteer or excavator and the operator can alleviate and run his or her job, without the aid of a second person at a Stick Person and yelling over the noise of a machine (or forgetting a tools to be ran over ha ha ha!!!)to acheive the correct level of hight or depths... Great info. Larger equipment has this tech but not smaller equipment like I have. I need to check this out.

Hi Keith, site work and leveling are only things I watched on commercial projects. Now I wish I had asked them more questions about grading. These projects had civil drawings so could see the elevations on drawings, but no clue of how it was accomplished. More on the grading, septic, etc.

It is my understanding that every time you do and over ex pad, you need to compacted and certified.

Hi Keith, I thought you have to run a compactor over the pad after the skid steer leveling of the additional fill dirt? Thank you for your content, and I'm in your entry program.

Hand-operated compactors do not work as well as a front loader filled with boulders.

So your saying the top of the footing will be at the proper level above the road. But you also said the footing needs to be 36” below finish grade? IF the building code requires the garage floor level to be six inches above the center line of the road, Then it makes no difference what the footing height is, so long as it is 36” below finish grade height. The only thing that matters here is the floor height above the road. And the footing needs to be (at minimum ) 36” below that.

Correct. Finish floor just needs to be at least 6” above crest of street.
