here's a tool that you get with the Traxxas when you first buy it, and everybody usually just discard it and loses it.

This is a good tip for the 2WD Traxxas models. It's become a bit less effective of a tool over the years as the upgrade axles became available. The Heavy Duty axles are so stiff it gouges a groove in the plastics trying to assemble. And the Extreme Heavy Duty axles (MAXX size upgrade) for the 4x4 kits are way larger and I don't think you can assemble them by hand like this anymore.

A very useful tool indeed - has been used for older Schumacher cars as you most likely know, yet not made from metal.

I usually pop it in a bench vise and tap in with a small hammer. Don't have the hand strength I used to.

Yes definitely and it's called phasing when the dry shaft is out of phase it's going to be noisy and will shake. I do have a video on my channel but I will make a new one
