What would you recommend for this scenerio. House of 3 with 2 baths, Well water that isnt super hard as its a shallow well, doesn't smell or anything but does leave scale buildup and quite a bot of Rust coloring. GPM is already limited to around 5gpm due to well requirements. Thanks !

Hey, thanks for the question! I would recommend the SpringWell Salt Based softener. The ion exchange works better for well water, and will completely eliminate the scale and red water staining. Sorry to tell you but the salt systems, they actually work better then the salt less systems. I wish on the house I currently have I would have added the salt system with the salt free system…. I hate hard water and water spots it’s annoying. Especially on my cars.

Hey Jarvis - Thank you for watching!! The CF is a catalytic carbon filter for chlorine, chloramine, PFAS, VOCs, etc. And the softener is for the hard water minerals. There are combo system that come with both the water filter and softener, and that is a very common set up. Hey there!! The resin should last several years. A normal residential salt based water softener will use around 20 lbs of salt every 2-4 weeks. But since you are using it for car washing, you probably go through water much faster. You can check the brine tank to see the salt levels. The resin depends on the type of resin, but if you see that the water is leaving water spots or the soap is not lathering, you should consider replacing the resin

@@Freshnss no, unfortunately. I’d like to do a genuine very in-depth multi chemical separation identification water exam to know what all is in here. If you ask me. It’s very cocktail like multi-chemical and sediment mix. The levels are not very high, but I don’t have to the tools or very good near by lab that’s not super expensive in Katy/cypress Texas.

Hey there! We do a lot of testing, but water softeners are not designed to remove fluoride and TDS. They remove Hardness minerals. Are you looking for a water filter for fluoride?

@@Freshnss yes I’m looking for a whole house water filter that will remove fluoride. I’ve found Radiant Life series 6 and Pentair pro elite claim their filter removes fluoride but nobody seems to have done any 3rd party testing to see if all fluoride gets removed or if there’s still less than 1 ppm.

Hey There - Carbon filters in general are not ideal for fluoride. If you want to target specifically fluoride, this is the special whole house filter: bit.ly/476Qu4L or you can do an RO like the water drop: bit.ly/3S9ucYe The starting concentration will heavily impact the remaining amount after filtration, but if you want to the highest likelihood of having fluoride under 1PPM, you should do point of use RO. A lot of people get the whole house setup with RO added on for that same reason. Let me know what you think, happy to provide more info on treatment options. Hey Tim - Thanks for checking out the review! I think that is not really a “con”, they are technically “salt-free conditioners”. So they use template assisted crystallization to make minerals like calcium unable to stick to your plumbing and appliances. They simply are a different process. They work great in certain scenarios, but salt-based ion exchange softeners might be required in other scenarios. 👌 Which softener are you looking at? Is your water pretty hard?

I actually don't know how hard my water is. We just moved from one state to another. I just want to be able to wash my car, clothes and dishes without getting spots and scale on them. I haven't decided on a brand yet. I'm open to suggestions.

Ah, got it! I had a similar situation myself with the hard water. If you're looking for an effective softener that won't break the bank, I would suggest SpringWell. Hmm kinda of advertised here. I live in Florida Orlando and some of these systems I have tried (4 to be exact) and none of them work, still got water spots on car and still have scale build up…. If the research was done from online like company websites… most of them are minimal working (from experience)…. Still looking for one that works if anyone willing to give me some tips glad to take it… then again if it works why are you here?😂

I don’t know about how your water system is setup, but my outside water splits before my water softener so it doesn’t get softened which is good so I’m not putting softened salt water on my grass. I have the spring well system and I stopped getting water spots on my shower glass and glass cups when i wash in my dishwasher.

NSF certification is voluntary and expensive. Many companies opt to use either certified components (like Springwell), or use other certification agencies like IAPMO.
