BEST way to catch BIG fish (Texas City Dike)

Жыл бұрынOn today's video I decided to go fish the Texas City Dike for some BIG BULLREDS. My BEST and EASIEST way to catch these reds is using blue crab. The KEY about the dike is to cast as far as you can to get it in the channel and your bait will get picked up by a MONSTER. I love those set up's. I used to make my own leaders when shark & Bullred fishing but I can't find the crimps, sleeves, etc. @ Academy in LakeJackson. We have Kayaks now & have been limiting out on Reds every time out. Around X-Mas Bay & San Luis Pass. It's hot, those Reds are running thru but they are mostly slot. I'm grabbing another set up from Academy, thinking of getting the PENN Rival 6'6" Rod Combo 30 series reel. 🤟

@@brandonmolina711 dude I was actually there today at the dike since 7am to 1. And got skunked. Had two surf rods on cut mullet and nothing. Hardly much people dud caught anything. Beside this white that was beside me caught two bulls. First cane off the hook the otehr landed 37 inch

@@civicturbo11 I’ve learned from fishing the dike the farther you cast in the channel is better. You just gotta get it in the drop you’ll be able to tell if you made it you spider weights gets set quick!

@@brandonmolina711I agree I've never seen anyone use a knife 🤣 But hey it worked, and the fish was safely released. Most people would just let it die. I can't stand seeing people just throw them out, and let them float. I've actually thrown my cast net before to revive someone else's on a pier

I’ve always had better luck when I set one up close, one about half your normal cast, and one out as far as you can cast, Helps cover as much water as possible, and sometimes their closer in, sometimes their further out.

A lot of people in this area have this kind of leaders. It’s probably one of the best ways to catch reds so with these leaders if your fish runs into structure your leader will hold and not bust and also if you watched this video you see I put my hook on the spider weight so I can make it better to cast.

Why do you put the hook in the leg of the weight?

2 reasons why I do that is bc it makes it shorter and easier to cast and second is bc when casting, the weight could pull the crab off the hook.

I didn’t think I had to but it wasn’t going down. If you are familiar with the dike there is some deep holes or channel drop. Most fish from the dike don’t need it but this one wasn’t but after I did I swam strong. 💪🏽

@@brandonmolina711 I’m not actually bro I just moved here but I am actually going to fish the dike this evening! I’ve been fishing San Luis pass in Galveston and Buffalo bayou here in Houston. The dike is a 30 min drive so I’m gonna go check it out today. I had no clue the water got that deep there. I actually started looking up videos of the dike today to get an idea of what to bring. Ima bring some mullet and a big stingray I caught and try my luck

Watch out for needles laying around out there, I know some of the BOIS like shooting heroin and coke out there. If they as ask you for a red just give it up to em. They will put saltwater in your gas tank if they get upset.
