Making a fixture to hold the muffler in the vice was so simple and yet so brilliant. Thank you for sharing.

You nailed it. Best 590 mod yet.

Great job! I don't own a 590/620 but do have a 680 and the muffler was extremely choked off on that saw as well. Must be an Echo thing.Great video. Looks great.

Awesome information. If I get another 590 or 620 I'll try that. I still love the your Hammerhead pipe on the Christmas 590.

Did both my 590 & 620 mufflers like that and yanked out the inside tube a few years ago. Saws have never been happier. Makes a huge improvement in performance.

Metric treads: M5(outer dia) X 0.8(pitch), pitch is the distance between two treads. Metric is briliant :-)

M5: 5mm by 0.8mm.. it's funny to see the Americans trying to understand ISO threads, while in France we twist our heads with your inch threads!😄🙃🤪👍

They blow apart pretty easy with a brazing tip on the torch. And slag cleans out better than the chips. I spend longer cleaning them than actually cutting them apart.

Do a vid with the alternate way. Then there will be 2 ways out there for reference.

How about a plasma cutter?
@Super-Dave-Outdoors2 ай бұрын
@@FarmlessFarmer-xs1he never used one but if it doesnt blast through the support tubes then it may be viable. Getting the tube out of there and making it look nice is always the aggravating part.

@@Mightycaptaintanks at work that have the brazing set up are empty. And i need to get another muffler to mod.

You are getting them apart with a torch?! We need a video of that one. I'd love to know how you manage to do that. I've tried before, and by the time I get one side loose, the side I just did cools and welds back up. For the guy wondering about a plasma cutter- it is just a method of cutting. Cutting them apart isn't the problem. The problem is gutting them and getting them back together. A plasma cutter would be more setup time, and you'd be cutting all the way through and slashing up where you don't want... I could only see that causing a big 'ol mess.

If you were to drill a hole opposite of the factory hole would that accomplish the same thing?

For anyone who has modded the 590 muffler, what are your experiences on the increase in power?
@Super-Dave-Outdoors2 ай бұрын
Power gain is very significant if you can adjust your carb properly.
@AndyAlaska3752 ай бұрын
Like SuperDave said it's significant. You can definitely feel an increase in power. I you haven't already you'll need to pull the carb adjustment limiters too and retune. Free HP is good stuff.

First thing before you put it back together is throw the screen in the parts bin!
@S-tank_2 ай бұрын
I've done this 1000 times. Despite the fact that I never once have needed a used muffler screen, I find it extremely difficult to throw them or anything else away 😂
@crazyfeller57042 ай бұрын
Yep…couple hours to cut any muffler apart and do a nice job.
