Best way to transfer designs to surface
Things you need:
Pencil
Exacto knife
Baking paper
We like to use ordinary baking paper for this purpose
It's pretty transparent, so you can see through it and it cuts very nicely with a blade.
First place your paper on the surface you're about to paint.
Mark the edges of the surface, so you know how big your design can be and choose a good center point for your design.
Draw your sketch. You can also print it out, or just copy it onto the baking paper from your computer screen,
but drawing is always best if you want to get more confortable in creating art.
You only need a few guide lines, do not over do it! You will only cripple yourself from advancing.
Use your knife to cut loosely on the lines of your design. You don't have to take any parts of the paper out.
We like to use a piece of glass as our cutting mat.
You will notice your lines are much straighter when cutting then when drawing with a pencil.
Place your design on the painting surface and find the best position for it. Stick it with a few pieces of tape so it
stays in place. Don't over do it with the tape because you need to be able to lift the paper to check if you missed a
spot somewhere.
Get your airbrush out and spray over your lines. Use thicker paint, and spray at about 30 psi. Periodically check if everything
looks good.
If you missed cutting an important line with the knife, you can place a piece of cardboard under it and cut it without moving
your design from place.
Remove the paper, and that's it! You have transferred your guidelines onto the surface! Congrats!
Now we're going to ad the moon in a place we like and start roughly filling out the design with some reduced paint.
