Thank you for these last 3 videos. I've watched them several times. I've watched your previous ones too but these are by far the best on KZfaq. Thanks again👍👍

I'm glad to see that you're talking about throttle.Expo and midthrottle and pids and everything because I feel like nobody's been talking about it. Everyone was like I don't pit Expo on anything. lol so stupid because Rates to me are super important. I have been working on the perfect rates almost since I started in FPV 2 1/2 years ago I been Tinkering with mine and just now have found almost my perfect rates I fly them in Velocidrone and them in the real world and back and forth testing them. They are what make the quad fly the way you want. Always wondered why nobody was talking about it and like you said, and I've found throttle rates are the most important for flying low and slow. Great video. Thank you for the great information . Nive to here. I've been on the right track with getting my perfect rates.

Seriously, I watched his tuning videos from a few years ago last week and changing the throttle dramatically changed how well I can control the quad.

I absolutely hate expo and especially on throttle but i know people who swear by it but i just don’t like it I’ve tried just never really thought it felt great it’s definitely all just preference

I definitely prefer setting the throttle mid to zero as well. It just feels way more natural, there's no weird spots in the throttle curve. Setting the mid point to where your quad hovers is probably good for cinewhoops. For freestyle however, setting it to zero is the best IMO. When setting the mid point to zero, I think using up to 20% curve works well, above that it starts feeling off again. Using a 20% curve combined with the "Throttle Limit Scale" should give you all the precision you need for freestyle.

I found that throttle midpoint set to 0 works best with a little bit of expo 15-25% for hovering and landing. I’m still experimenting with the expo value.

What about expo for the rates? I know what it does but I would have liked to hear what you have to say about it. Thanks for those videos!

Thank you. Also, thank you for the motors [2207]. 👍 I look forward to using the long-range version [2807]. We appreciate all that you have done, to offer guidance in the FPV genera. Nice work mate! @Chris Rosser✌️

Throttle cap may give more resolution but less thrust when you might need it in split second saves after a big dive or other situations where you need that xtra 20% power... also just love big punches. Running 5s on 2450kv motors. So fun. And so easy to recover from mistakes cuz there is so much power.

I have been flying a Pavo20 indoors and have my Max rate on Pitch and roll absolutely dead. I set to 10 and I love it for flying crawling slow. But have my yaw pretty fast to make the stick movement small. I wish I could actually make it even slower than 10 in pitch. The 3s in that quad makes it pretty damn zippy. It is wild how different each quad responds to this tuning and I think more people need to mess around in here to adapt a quad to your need vs you adapting your own flying to try to adapt to a quads behavior. Great explanation of all of these settings!!

You could limit your stick in the radio “software” that would make it below 10. But at that point I dunno how you wanna fly with such almost negative rates.

I would love to see your approach to a hobbyist injection molding machine project...and maybe that would be a great opportunity to make a set of dies that just happen to produce some vaguely "PaperMate Sharpwriter" shaped bits and tubes, using white plastic...for science! Lol

Ummmm, wait. What happened to the explanation of expo on rates? Personally loved the explanation of everything else. I myself center at 50, rate at 850, but have an expo in the .60s

Dont worry about explanation, tweak settings in simulator, fly each for 5-10 minutes after change and proceed further or revert if you dont like that. This is the most individual thing ever on fpv drones - rates. Followed by stick ends and radio grip. Nothing fits everyone, whoch is great.

Great video Chris. The most important control to tune for close proximity flying is throttle. I set throttle expo by first finding at how much power does it take for the quad to hover with linear throttle, lets say 28 and I use that for my throttle MID and adjust expo for the motor prop combo that I'm using. Works great for precise pitch control in close proximity flying. Expo about .18 to .3 for my liking. Thanks

Hello Chris thank you for all your explanations, I followed everything but it seems to me that an explanation on 'EXPO' is missing? Can you tell us more

1100 rates feels like a dead battery, I run 1950 only because higher makes the gyro flip out. Even 1750 feels dead. Also I run lower expo than default because high expo you cannot control spin rate near stick end. I can Taz at 7.6 rolls per sec.

Hello , I am building a 5 Inch Squashed X with AOS Supernova Motors, Speedybee Master 5 v2 HD with Soeedybee v4 405 flight controller. This is my first 5 inch built. After watching this video I have been thinking to set the rates as you mentioned in the video. Do you ever plan to make a video on setting up best rates for a AOS Supernova Motor built and Tuning video. I was wondering it would be a great opportunity for us to get more how to configure the motors on a new build.

Hi, just a question. why didn't you explain your yaw calculations, to ease the coordinated turns? I tried it and cannot remember how I ever lived without it...and its not so complicated that a beginner couldn't reproduce it from this video...Best ImpFPV

Question: I have a 3.5” and it’s all new . New props and I have bad vibration in my googles. Camera is mounted nice, motors aren’t losse. Is it possible a tuning issue?

Can I set the lowest throttle point to the mid point? Or just below.. I learnt to fly on a ps4 controller and I need to replicate it. I have managed to do it on DRL simulator with the TBS Tango 2 but I can’t do it on beta flight. When I tried it made the drone unable to take off as it was pitching backwards constantly 😢

Hi Chriss. Please help!!! Have bought AOS 5 v2 frame and AOS 2207 motors. Can't understand strange behavior with Mamba F722 stack. With all stock PIDs it flies away at arming!!! Can fly and hear no oscillations at master multiplayer value about 0.25 (D value not higher than 7!!!). Tried BF 4.4 and 4.5 (latest build) Have big experience with assembling drones but usually stock PIDs is a starting point to tune. What can be wrong? Are these motors too crazy for stock pids?
