It's a close call, but this one might even be funnier than the one with just Karl. But seriously, I've been revisiting these videos every year for nearly a decade, and I've yet to watch without laughter. Shit's timeless. Just two drunken old death metal guitarists shredding, air-drumming, and saying things like "clicky click." Fucking classic. And yes, I love Nile and these two goofballs. ❤️ By the way, I made a KZfaq poop of this! Check it out on my channel if you like that kind of thing.

I always remember to have my clicky click going so I know when to add flat five bendies on top.

its not even that the notes or the playing is bad, its literally just the crazy amount of gain and the scooped out mids that make the tone sound awful when not in the mix of the whole band. Nile is great, and if you pay attention to the notes when slow, its actually pretty cool. just sounds like mud with the tone as it is.

I haven’t really seen anyone in this series that seems to care that much about it. I know better. Say what you want about Karl, but he’s got his own style and just has fun with it. Great writer. Dallas, on the other hand, is freaking amazing. I’ve seen him play impromptu many times and he operates like a surgeon with ultra-killer tone that a lot of people have never truly heard or seen because they take these funny videos so seriously. Also a great writer/vocalist and still to this day is a true leader of the underground metal community. Either way, they don’t have to prove themselves to anyone.

@Forcejuuso10 жыл бұрын
Nobody listens to music because of what the people in the band look like? If you do, you should rather start listening to Justin Bieber and other hot trend pop starts who care about their appearance more than the quality of music they do.
@Joecoolman2610 жыл бұрын
Fuckin lol, people be gettin mad when I say my favorite band looks like dumbassess when drunk. They aren't exactly Obscura in the "I look like I know exactly what I'm doing" dept.
@ibanezfloyd10 жыл бұрын
They may drink a lot but it doesn't mean they don't know what their playing. Karl and dallas have good picking style, yes they use a lot of gain but it doesn't mean their playing like shit. Its just a tone setting THEY prefer and it works for them. They aren't sloppy players, the gain makes them sound sloppy but its their preference of tone that they prefer.
@Brandizzleizzle10 жыл бұрын

@Gigadrane right, but he said "the song" implying execration text. 32nd notes on the snare and craches on a and e constitutes a fill because its not a beat. if you cant tell that he's playing the end of execration text on his lap at 1:40 you really can't pay attention

they should change karls lick to "Betcha Wouldn't Want to Play This with Karl Sanders"
@marathonxman2 жыл бұрын
People act like these are solos or sections tailormade for a “shred video”. These are actual base Nile riffs. The part Dallas plays at the start is the end of their song Execration Text which he also does lead vocals for. Anyone laughing at this should attempt to learn any Nile song first

@000sicair14 жыл бұрын
@monkeyman2812 I'm not positive but I think they use baritone guitars. If you didn't know, Baritones have a longer neck scale and are meant to be tuned a fifth below a standard six string (BEADF#B), so tuning them to drop A is like tuning a standard guitar to drop D.
@JeanSeb1514 жыл бұрын
Haha, "it's like a four finger diminished thingy" EPIC
@jrod77669915 жыл бұрын
i got your point.its just that everyone expects technical perfection all of the time and the first time a guitar player doesnt deliver a perfect exhibition of skill everyone rips on them
@mick_plays_guitar11 жыл бұрын
At first I was like, that karl sanders lick was awful. But now i can see how it would work in a song. This shit shouldnt be played on its own.
@_witchyy_15 жыл бұрын
No. He meant the scale bro. "Harmonic Minor" is a mode of minor... Usually written in conjunction with minor scale for the same root, used to right the harmony part. It is often confused with Diminished because they have a somewhat similar pattern.

wow. people who bash on karl and dallas probably don't have the balls to tell that to their faces. nile rules and these 2 guys are amazing.
@MaskedRiderChris15 жыл бұрын
Death metal is not so much about technical skill or knowledge as it is about feeling above all. What these guys may lack in technical wizardry they make up for with feeling and energy and passion, which is more than I can say for most metalcore bands out there. I've been supporting Nile for 9 years now and will keep doing so cos Karl and Dallas are well into what they're doing and are dead serious about it, and are great guys, too, while they're at it.
@headbanger41913 жыл бұрын
Nope Dallas idk what you mean and I thought it was "betcha can't play this" not betcha can't play this and then I show you how to play this in specific direction, but Dallas is amazing and Nile is amazing so hell he can play that all he wants

That is absolutely not a harmonic minor scale, and that is absolutely not a diminished scale. They just Kerry Kinged it.
@LichKingSkullWart14 жыл бұрын
I don't know about anybody else, and I'm not defending their performance in any way, but I took their view of scales and how the diminished can be used in different ways into account and improved my playing because of it. I'm guessing most of you didn't take anything into account from this video because you're too bust jumping on the band wagon.
