I went to the Black Ice tour when they toured Australia, Angus started playing thunder struck and the a storm rolled in, lots of a lightening and thunder while they played Thunderstruck, thankfully didnt rain, most memorable night of my entire life being 20ft away from Brian and Angus and looking at them looking up and smiling at the sky while rippin out thunderstruck 🤘❤

No that's just how his voice is the original lead singer was Bon Scott. He passed away when he came aboard everyone was shocked how much he sounded like Bon Scott. Everyone was blown away by his performance. AC DC has been around since the 70's .

Noteable here is that Brian Johnson is 64 years old at the time and Malcolm Young on rhytm guitar is suffering from severe dementia - as this is the last tour before his retirement and passing. Just shows how these guys always was and is all about the audience.

@@claytonberg721 Yeah, Angus said in an interview during the Black Ice Tour, that he would sit with Malcolm before each show and rehearse the entire setlist with him. Each show Mal was giving his all. May he rest in rock.

A few points: #1) Saying those things as a sort of "dis-claimer" is offensive. These guys are PHENOMENAL, and that's it. The way you're saying it, is as if: "well, it's ok. but it's great for 64!". No, it's great because it's great. #2) WHERE DO YOU GET OFF SAYING THAT ABOUT MAL? "Severe"? It really wasn't, not at this point in time. That makes him sound like a shell of a person, and he really wasn't Everyone wants to jump on that conclusion about him, when looking back on Black ice footage. And why? Because he does the in-between-verses on Shoot To Thrill slightly different? Or because there's on audience video where he goofs up High Voltage for 1/2 a nano-second? Angus has been destroying Shot Down In Flames since '79, so that's no measure. Don't just hear a story about Mal, live through his un-fortunate passing, then go to videos like this and act like you're schooling everyone saying he's destroyed by dementia and barely made it out of his house

@@ImperialRadioYT Yes, I know - Ive held Ac/dc as the biggest band on the planet for 25 years now. It was just an interesting point that Brian is still capable of singing as he does at his age - Hell, hes over 70 now and Power Up was excellent. On Malcolm I admit, severe is the wrong word, his sickness was only on the starting line here - I stand corrected mate. But still, early symptoms started during the latter part of Black Ice tour, when Ang and Mal had to sit down pre-show and go over the parts Mal had trouble getting his head around, just for a refresher. Ive spent the better part of my career as a guitar man to analyze and replicate Mals playing style - So I dont know what youre on about when saying he screws up High Voltage. And, easy on the pointing fingers about schooling, youre coming on pretty hard yourself here.
@ImperialRadioYT
@ImperialRadioYT 2 жыл бұрын
@@simonringqvist7540 I commend you for owning where you mis-"spoke" (typed). The fact that you obviously hold Mal where you do speaks volumes, as I feel the same way about him, and have done the same with my life. Yeah, I thought you might have seen that. It's a 2010 performance likely in Australia being High Voltage, and a comment actually pointed it out to me. He slammed on the opening D (you know, that E-D riff?) slightly too early. The commentor pointed it out, and went on to say how he made one SMALL mistake, and played beautifully the rest of the song, MORE than making up for it. Looking back, I do see those sings too. It's always offended me, and made me feel bad for Mal, when you get those guys analyzing his every move, blaming on dementia. They didn't before, you know? But I get you, and we seem fairly similar. Rock on mate.

Why do Australians love ACDC so much??? 1.They didn't ditch Australia at the first whiff of success unlike begees or easy beats both first two albums were strictly only in Australia.. 2.They understood what it felt like to be young and broke in the early 70s for Aussie blokes 3.They laid down the blueprint for a new hard rock sound we ain't ever heard of 4.They became an even bigger band after the death of Bon Scott who was amazing 5 They weathered punk by not wavering an inch they didn't change to a punk sound when in that time all it was is punk and hard rock is yesterday news. 6.Beloved Aussie band

Great reaction, Beth!. I have been listening to AC/DC since well before the Brian Johnson era began. You are right on, Brian has definitely changed to a more Blues/Soul style in his singing and his moves during live performances as he has gotten older, his voice became more damaged. Rather than the full out power singing, charging around the stage that he did in the earlier years. It really started to become more noticeable in the late 1990's/early 2000's.

I met ACDC in scotland when i used to roadie for a lot of the bands that came to my hometown my friend at school was the son of the manager of the local cinema back in the 70s where the bands used to come and he asked me if i wanted to offload the bands gear and set it up on stage and after the concert load it back on to the trucks and meet the band as i was into my giutar and all that i said oh yes thats cool , so i met loads of bands before they came really big just at the start of their breakout which included ACDC,Queen,David Bowie ,10cc, Pilot,Bay City Rollers,Steve Harley and Cockney rebel and many more it was awesome and evertime i used to see them on tv i used to think wow i have met them all and spoke to them it was something i will never forget . No I'm going to give you and your father some information that a lot of people don't know that outfit I wear with the shorts was designed by my sister and that little move I do with the guitar she told me that move, Brian unfortunately from the 40-plus years of playing rock and roll he started losing his hearing so we had Axl Rose come in and take over but it wasn't the same. A lot of people might be surprised that Brian can be more soulful as a singer - yet his familiar rasp is intact. You'll hear it more on later AC/DC songs like "Anything Goes" and "Rock The Blues Away", but to hear him in a different light listen to "Goodbye Love" from his pre-AC/DC band Geordie. For a folkier side of Brian, with his very Northern English sense of humour, listen to Geordie doing traditional song "Geordie's Lost His Liggie".

This song just Pumps you up! Regarding rasp voices you should definitely do a Reaction to Tom Waits 'Going out West' (Live - Glitter and Doom). One of my favorite songs for sure. :)

Saw AC/DC in 2003 for my first concert ever. They put on a fucking show, not just a concert. So many different gimmicks, fireballs, giant bells, guitar powered elevators, rising stage as Angus runs in circles on the ground, giant angus statue, giant blow up doll, cannons. It was amazing.

Considering that both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson sang/sing with a falsetto voice it is a wonder they could continue performing for as long as they did. Brian continued to sing for 40 years, doing multiple tours during that time, none of which could have been easy on his voice. The gravely texture he added certainly did NOT help matters in the slightest. I had the good fortune to see both Brian Johnson and Malcom Young during their world tour when they visited Germany. It was the second to last concert Brian Johnson did before he had to quit due to damage to his hearing. Obviously no one knew that was going to happen, so I consider myself incredibly lucky and fortunate to have experienced them going full throttle one last time. No matter how more complex many other bands are, what skills they have, AC/DC always was an amazing crowd pleaser. /Question: Umm, Beth, maybe you forgot the link to the Bluegrass version of Thunderstruck. It might, possibly be this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5pxopCas7a0hZc.html Another band that makes amazing Bluegrass Rock covers is Hayseed Dixie. Here's a link to their Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/er-TjZpmqM7IZXk.html

Neither of them use falsetto aside from I think Brian might have done to control some notes on Teaser (by Geordie).

There’s an up and coming Canadian duo called cleopatrick. I’d recommend looking at the basement live sessions or a studio version of one of their most popular songs ‘hometown.’ Reason for the recommendation - it deviates from very well-known, famous artists which I think adds interest.

I would like to see who is going take over the reins when, unfortunatley, these bands pass on. The big bands- ACDC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Guns and Roses, Rolling Stones, most of the members of these bands are in their 60's or 70's and members will pass on. Don't see many new bands around today who would pack out a venue like the bands I have mentioned.

If you listen to anything Brian did with his former band Geordie, you will hear distinct differences in how he delivers his performance. Whenever he sings with them, he goes in with a more straight up Rock & Roll approach, which is different to the heavier sound of AC/DC. Both are Rock & Roll, but with Geordie, he uses a much smoother sound of vocal, which produces all the natural sounds & tones of his voice. In AC/DC, he uses the more Australian approach of, use your natural speaking voice, then project it all from your throat very loudly. You still get the natural sound of that voice, just a little rougher around the edges, but not without it's musical qualities.
