BETTE DAVIS TV SHOW - THE DECORATOR 1965 26 MINS Co written by Mart Crowley "Boys in the band" Co-starring Mary Wickes as her assistant Viola (though Mart Crowley had Paul Lynde in mind for her role when he wrote it). This is a HILARIOUS unsold / unaired made for TV pilot. FULL COMPLETE EPISODE Producedy by Aaron Spelling.. Synposis. A respected but struggling interior decorator from a wealthy background moves in with some of her clients in order to meet their specific needs. In the process, she tends to become friends with the families and get drawn into their personal problems. In the pilot episode, she's hired by an oil tycoon to lavishly decorate a house on his property for his daughter and future son-in-law, secretly hoping that the obvious expense will cause the fiancé' to back out of the wedding.

@Blue Clouds IMDB has a good description of her appearance, " Plain and hawkish in looks while noticeably tall and gawky in build." She discovered her niche and it kept her steadily employed. It wasn't just her appearance but also her voice. Her IMDB profile is a very interesting read.

Agreed! I saw good acting, appealing characters, the show was very creatively put together and there was a good sense of humour in it too.. what more could one want! However sometimes a new show may not so much get rejected as well as simply not taken on, which could be for all kinds of reason from availability of one or more main players to the number of episodes they would be able to produce in a season or contractual differences or obstacles of such a kind or other ones. Would it have been for some other reasons than them actually thinking the show primarily might not do be cause of its quality, we most likely are never gonna learn any more what it may have been..

too much drinking, smoking, arrogance, flippancy and makeup. The main characters are old bitties. The other characters are offensive, anti white, anti rural stereotypes. Who was this supposed to appeal to other than gay men? It is a wonder this was made at all, can't imagine what any studio executive was thinking other than that they wanted to appeal to a very small audience of gay men and single women At the time this was made, single women past the age of 26 were rare, and they didn't have much money to spend on the advertisers products. It wasn't until the nineties that something along this line came along-The Golden girls".

All About Eve does a family makeover. This could have been a hit if they gave it a chance. Davis shows her comedic side.

Perhaps the prospective tv show sponsors did not want to bring into America's living rooms a season or more of Bette's bawdy hungover "bumpy ride"s.

Maybe just too costly. I am sure Ms. Davis would have demanded a large salary.

@@crlwardrobe979 i don't think she would be able to ask very much. Film offers weren't flooding in.
