This is great. I have seen it before and then forgot about it as I use the longtail CO most of the time. I realize now, it is necessary to practice it a few times. Best, may be to use the cable CO in a project. 💜💜💜

The CCO is my favorite cast on and this makes it perfect. I'd use it nearly everywhere, but there doesn't seem to be a "matching" bind off. Any ideas, Ms. Patty Lyons?

So slick! What about joining cable cast on in the round, is there anything special to do to avoid a divot that differs in any way from how to avoid a divot in LTCO?

You still need to END a cast on before you join in the round. For a trick to jogless join in the round, see chapter 6 of my book.

Hello, I love the trick for the cable cast on, this is a silly question, my pattern calls for 8 rows of knitting after cast on. i'm using a German cast on for this project. Or does it not matter since it is a blanket ? The first row will leave a knit st. showing. Should I purl the next row to back before I start the 8 rows of knitting. Bind off on the RS. purl wise, seems to blend better ?

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're looking for. A cast on is just the way to get stitches on your needle. There are hundreds of different cast-ons. Is there a pattern you are working that specifically calls for that cast-on? Are you wondering what the difference is in appearance? To experiment with what cast on you like, swatch and give them all a try!

Fellow jackal here 🐾 Saw that there is a knitting leaflets project on a citizen science site Zooniverse. Thought you might be interested. Lots of old leaflets showing different styles.
