I love this song. It came out not too long after I lost my maternal grandmother when I was 18. She was the only one in my family who loved me after my grandfather passed away and after she died, I literally had NO ONE. She was a wise old bird....just like I now am. So, yeah....this song really hits home for me as I had the same relationship with my grandmother as Diane Reeves had with hers.

My grandmother was my rock. We had her funeral this Saturday. She's with the Lord now. She's given me everything that I needed from her. She was a legend in her days. I miss her & luv her.

I was touched. My grandmas from my mom and dad died in 2003 and 2021, respectively.

Had to say goodbye to my grandmother in 2019... 16 years after she said goodbye to her daughter, my mom. I'm becoming a grandmother any day now. (I can only pray my grandson arrives on her birthday) 1 day before my son's (his father) I can only hope he will see and feel my love and don't dismiss my life experiences.

When I heard this song as a child my grandmother was alive and well. But it made me have to face the reality that she was not going to be with me forever and so it was sooooo hard for me to listen to this song back then. I never really knew my paternal grandmother I was blessed to have a village of grandmothers... my grandma, my best friends' 2 grandmas across the street and my husband's grandma. Now that they are all gone I can listen and smile and think about all the good times and how fortunate I was. 😊

I'm a metal head, and I find this song very touching, this somehow gave me a different feel for all the soul music I heard recently.
