BETTER OFF THIS WAY - A DAY TO REMEMBER: I personally see this as a friendship falling apart. It really could be any relationship but because of my past experiences and the falling outs that I have had, I see it as a friendship. "I wonder if you'll notice If they lock me up and throw away the key" the friend never cares about anything but themselves. ADTR sees how selfish they are and wonders if they are of any significance to this friend. "Gotta be open minded You've got a lot to learn in the ways of me You've always got to say something" The friend is again self centered and has a problem with everything that doesn't appeal to them. "I'm none of your concern but you won't listen at all" The friend doesn't care about what happens to ADTR, they're so wrapped up on themselves that when someone tries show them that they are a horrible person, they dont see it. "You know I'd rather say nothing And just be proud of myself I'm tearing down these walls." ADTR has tried to suck it up and get past the friends flaws but they can't this time because they're tired if being walked on so they break free. "When you fall I'll be the only one who looks away When you call I'll be the first to tell you I can't stay" ADTR stands up for themselves and makes the decision to leave the friend because they no longer can forgive the friend. "It's all over, I found a better way To help keep you from me, I'm better off this way Wo-oh [x2] I'm better off this way Wo-oh [x2]" ADTR is understanding that they are better off without the friend and they found a way to get away from this friend. "You gotta keep this coming Tell me like you know it but you don't know nothing, your call. We can settle this like gentlemen Or meet me at the back to end it all and start again." The friend keeps acting like they're perfect and like they had no part in the falling apart of the friendship. And ADTR tells them that they can act like a child or they can grow up and make amends "My whole life's been waiting Ever since I can remember been anticipating your fall" ADTR has always been upset with thus person but has never been brave enough to cut it off until now. "And God let it be a long one I can't let go of my life till I know you're done." ADTR is ready to show this person all that they've done to them and how they've hurt them. "When you fall I'll be the only one who looks away When you call I'll be the first to tell you I can't stay It's all over, I found a better way To help keep you from me, I'm better off this way Wo-oh [x2] I'm better off this way Wo-oh [x2] I'm better off this way" In case anyone cares about my personal story which us what I based my interpretation on (probably not but I dont care) this is it: In highschool I was friends with this girl (let's call her Amy) who basically walked all over me and was a selfish bitch. She always told me what to do and she only talked to me when she was bored or when she needed someone to tell her problems to. And I didn't see this until I was a junior, six years after we had met and become friends. This was after she sabotaged my friendship with someone who she was "in love" with and she used that as her excuse. So, we were at a sleepover with a few other friends (let's call them Amber, Ellie and Natasha) and the topic of this guy (let's call him Ryan) came up. He was in a relationship for two years as of this happening and Amy still threw herself at him like the bitch she was. Not only that but he had been flirting with about three other girls as well. So Ellie mentioned how weird it was that he was doing that and Amber called him a slight douche. Natasha had previously dated this guy and it took TWO YEARS for him to respect her after that (it was kinda a messy ending, Nat had found out that she was a lesbian and it was just really messy) and Nat was the most neutral person out of all of us. I only asked her why she had been throwing herself at him when she knew he was dating someone. So Amy was crying to Ryan about how we had been "harassing her" and "yelling at him" and she flat out lied to him. To this day he doesn't know what really happened and he hates Natasha with every fiber of his being. So anyway, this fucking skank was smiling as she apologized and her peace offering was fucking iced tea. After like a week of being furious at this bitch my friends made me forgive her. And so it was okay for a bit. Except for the fact that she still obsesses over him even though she trashed a good friendship I had with this guy. Even when I told her to stop and that it wasn't right. But it was okay for the most part. But she had ditched us on Ambers 17th birthday to hang out with this guy at a basketball game. After that I started seeing her differently. I saw the real reasons to why she would talk to me. She didn't care about me at all. So I told her that I didn't want her to call me anymore or have me drive her to football games and such. I told her why too, I told her that she was selfish and I was sick of being walked on. I was tired of always being the bad guy because she always spun it to be my fault. I haven't talked to her since but I really was better off without her.

there may be a couple gramatical errors and lyric fails (i didnt see any but i might have missed some) but i love how the effects seem to fit right into the way he says things at just the right time. it's such a well made video that i think the quality of video makes up for any errors. i love it!
