In today's video we are looking "again" at the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro, a shoe that I already reviewed in January. But here i'm sharing some "updated" thoughts after 100 kilometers in the shoe. And we also share some images of our visit to Osaka at Mizuno HQ

Agree about the landing in the shoe. I think it is great for heel-midfoot strikers. To me, it feels like a regular shoe (forefoot striker).

@5:25 I believe you may have misspoken, Alex, as all I've ever heard is that the heel measurement is taken at 12% of the internal length of the shoe starting at the HEEL, and the forefoot measurement at 75% from the heel. It makes more sense like this since these points are much closer to the center of the anatomical heel and ball of the foot respectively.

That’s an interesting comment, compare running shoes for length vs depth at different points of the midsole, I wonder what sizes have an advantage over others and that’s why when you include the runners weight we prefer different shoes and why the m large stack has seen more of a levelling of performances

I’ve never tried the Mizuno shoes as I went from Brooks to Altra and found my niche but for joggers…I love Mizuno joggers. I wear them for running and lounging.

Great review Alex I find this shoe fascinating.. hats off to Mizuno for trying something different. I ordered a pair online .5 size up but they are too big. Not sure whether to order in my normal size as it's alot of earth credits to splash out if they aren't as fast as my Vaporflys 🤔

@@lifephorce if the Vaporflys work well for you stick with them but... Qualification = I'm always keen to try new shoes despite it being an expensive business : - 0 Very few shoes haven't worked for me. Rebellion Pros are an exciting propulsive ride. That rare feeling of a shoe that's different. Definitely worth a try! If you can find a shop to try them on first give them a go.

@@lifephorce and the all important question of efficiency and speed - haven't run in the Rebellion enough to call on it vs thr Vaporfly. And in my case training trumps any shoe when it comes to improving speed or efficiency.

I feel the same. Would wear for a Half or under, especially in the wet (that fantastic traction) on courses without any sharp turns. Not sure that I would risk them over full Marathon distance. They definitely save the calf muscles but just shift that tension elsewhere (hips, glutes and possibly shins). Think that I am currently favouring Endorphin Elite for Spring Marathon if it's dry. Could be any one of three in the wet. (1) Endorphin Elite (2) Wave Rebellion Pro (3) Metaspeed Sky+

Shifting the tension elsewhere is exactly how I feel about them. But when I think of it, it's actually a "good" thing to strenghten other zones. Stay tuned in the coming days for the Ultimate carbon shoe video featuring - among others - the Endorphin Elite

@@AlexFilitti Will keep an eye out as I think that you have a similar running style to myself (just quicker) being a fan of the Metaspeed Sky and Edge+ My current Half and Marathon PB's are both in the Sky v1.

I've done two quality workouts and two easy runs with the Rebellion, and I'm still on the fence. I prefer the AlphaFly 1 or Endorphin Elite over this shoe. It just feels like it takes more effort to hit paces and figure out pace adjustments...will need to run more in it.

Alphafly and Elite are more "out of the box" type of shoes. You get them, you put them on and you're ready for a session. The Mizunos require a bit of time to adjust but once you master them, they are a great workout companion

I bought rebellion pro for long distance marathon running. It's my first time running a marathon. I ran 5-10-15-21k before. Does it tire my legs in marathon running? because we can't get support from the heel in any way. we have to run with the midsole and the toe section all the time. and I see a lot of wrist flexion in the videos, will this cause us trouble? I don't want to return these shoes.

Why do reviewers highlight world athletics stack height regulations so much? No one watching will be affected by those regulations since elite athletes have sponsors.

Where I live shoe regulations are enforced at a local level. Not parkrun, but like 10K open regionals.

Ask them to make these in 2e....otherwise too narrow in standard width

Hi Alex, thank you for the video! would you recommend for 5/10k or is the Adidas TS8 / standard super shoe better for those shorter than half distances? (I'm 19 mins for 5k - 1.30 for the half).

Hi David, for me this is not the ideal 5K/10K shoe. BUT some of the fastest triathletes in the world are using them for short distances and they run crazy fast splits nevertheless. It depends on your biomechanics but my feeling is that you would need more speed than your 5K/10k current pace to make the most out of them (and same applies to your question @Lifephorce). Hope this makes sense
