I remember seeing this in theaters and when Vader showed up at the end I said to the person I was with "This just turned into a f*cking horror movie!" That scene never gets old.

The "Jedi from the Clone Wars" Leia's adopted father was talking about was indeed Obi-Wan. When talking about someone he "trusted with his own life" to deliver the Death Star plans to Kenobi he was referring to Leia (who is 19 years old by this point). You'll see more of this storyline in Ep. IV.

When I watched Rogue One in the theater, I ran home and watched A New Hope, because the switch was that instantaneous. I'm so excited you are on a Star Wars journey. You will be busy for a long, long time in a galaxy far, far away!!

The Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy lean more into "Pulp Adventure" type storytelling (which is fun), while this one leans more into "spy/war action" movies.

(Obviously, they had to do her face with CGI, since Carrie Fisher was an old woman when this movie was made, instead of 19, as she was when filming Chapter 4: A New Hope.) They had to throw R2 & 3PO cameos in, since they're onboard Leia's ship in A New Hope.

If you've never seen Episode 4 - 5 and 6, specially part 4, you didn't realise what good job they did, specially in the end of this movie. I really like this movie! And i like your reaction, but i always like your reactions! 😉

This is my favorite movie in all of the Star Wars franchise. I have heard some complain that there isn't much about force users, but the Jedi were thought to be gone by now, and there are only two Sith Lords, so this is about the normal people fighing for their lives against The Empire. Rogue One has great acting, a really good script with comedy, drama, and tragedy... but above all, it has hope! **(Edited for spelling error)

George Lucas originally wanted the red squadron to be blue squadron in episode 4 but the the cameras used at the time did not work with that color scheme, so they were changed to red. This movie explains why not a single member of Blue squadron was present in the battle of Yavin.

One thing to keep in mind when watching the original trilogy, other than the very old movie making tech compared to the newer movies, is that you will have a lot more context going into Episode IV. Episode IV was an introduction into the Star Wars universe for the rest of us. Of course, the rest of us had more context going into Episodes 1-3 and Rogue One. For example, there were many characters in Rogue One who were familiar to those of us watching in the release order. Hope you still enjoy the originals though, cheers!

One of the problems with watching in chronological order, like this, is it gives away mysteries and plot twists in the original trilogy. That said, they're still fun and have their own charm this way. Now, try to keep in mind that those of us who've been around long enough started with Ep 4, and all the info we didn't have yet.

Senator Organa was talking about summoning Obi-wan for help, and Mon Mothma says to send someone he trusts. That's the "she" he then refers to (Princess Leia). It will be clearer on viewing Episode 4... Great reaction as always...this one might have some of the best writing of the whole series, it's very well done in every way, not only as a standalone film, but one that fits perfectly with the original film (Episode 4). Bisscute, I just started watching some of your movie reactions, and I might like them even better than your music reactions. (which I love!) I can't wait to see you react to Episodes 4-6. Imo 4-6 are by far the best SW movies, and my favorite movies of all time. Imagine being 11 years old in 1977, when SW episode 4 (A New Hope) came out. That was me! Trust me, trust me, trust me, there was NOTHING like SW before this. The special effects in sci-fi movies were CRAP before SW. Add a magical, timeless story, and you have movies that are still loved and considered ICONIC almost 50 years later! The hype is REAL!! I hope you love these next 3 movies! It's so interesting watching this journey. You're getting the story in a logical order, but there are things you don't know that are brought in because they were already known from movies made earlier. The Death Star, for example, is such a well known part of Star Wars because of its impact in Episode 4, which was, of course, the first exposure people had to Star Wars. There are lots of things like this, such as how Episode 4 explains what Jedi are, or little references and Easter eggs. You're right that this movie feels a little less like Star Wars that you've seen. But that's what a lot of people like about it. It feels a little more real. My favorite Star Wars story is Andor, which just started this year. It tells Cassian's story in a similar way and I love how different it feels. But you don't need to watch that yet, I want you to see the main stories first so you can maybe appreciate all the things Andor does so well.

Obi-wan helped HER FATHER(techincally both, but she was talking about her adoptive father) during the Clone Wars. She wasn't even born during The Clone Wars. Actually, technically, he helped both her father and her mother(though not necessarily her adoptive mother) in those days.

This is a nicely done film, the ending of which sits literally just before episode 4 (the original films). I wouldn't be overly concerned about special effects quality. They are very well done for the time and what you will be seeing has been touched up wince the theatrical release (nearly impossible to see a digital version of the theatrical release). No computer-work just practical effects, stop-motion, that sort of thing. Great films, though.

Great reaction!!! This is the best of the Disney Star Wars movies (which isn't difficult really). I think when it was made the decision was not to make it be too much like the other, main trilogy, Star Wars movies. The other thing I would say is that Episodes 4, 5, and 6 are the best of the Star Wars films because, even though they don't have the CGI, they have the best story arcs and the best acting (there no mention of his a character dislikes sand anywhere). In the end there are many movies with amazing CGI that are just crap because apart from the amazing visual effects there is nothing. You have to take into account that the special effects in A New Hope were only possible because the director, George Lucas, basically set up his own company, Industrial Light & Magic, to make the special effects because no one else was doing this back then, and it became the best industry standard for this until CGI and computerized graphics came around in the early 2000s. There is a bit of disconuity between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back (I won't tell you what it is because it might spoil this for you), but let's just say that George Lucas never expected the first Star Wars film to be a success, so much so he didn't even attend the premiere instead deciding to go on holiday to Hawaii instead. So there wasn't a plan for how to proceed the story past the first film. It will be interesting to see what you make of the older movies, but I think you'll love them. I think they have agreed better than most sci-fi movies or that time and I think you're in for a treat.

( i was 14 ) And yes, even though u will see older special effects from the 1970's, that was before any computer graphics (like Jar-Jar and other creatures) u will see a few scenes that were enhanced years later when George Lucas had CGI technology to add a tiny bit more "visual magic" to this old gem.

Supposedly in the TV show Andor they actually make the stormtrooper corps something to fear like they were intended to be instead of the jokes they are depicted as in the movies. If you do watch that show at some point don't get too attached to any characters you don't see in the movies, they might not survive the series and end up running into stormtroopers.

This movie has the unique quality of being one of the slowest Star Wars films yet still one of the best. Each time I watch it it edges closer to being my favourite.

It tells how Andor Cassien comes to be who he is. I would highly recommend it if and when you have the time and the inclination. And as always keep up the good work and keep it cute.

And thus this film was born 39 years after A New Hope's Opening Crawl. Love Rogue One it captures the practical look of the original trilogy but adds a dark and brutal tone describe as a war movie by the director. This movie also features my favourite space battle with the Battle Of Scarif. Fun details but the cockpit shots of Gold squadron (in the Y Wing bombers) and Red Squadron (in the X Wings) was actually old unused footage of the Gold and Red Squadron pilots from A New Hope the female pilot who says "Look at the size of that thing" was not featured in A New Hope so they added her to this movie which is really cool. Greig Fraser is the cinematographer for this film who also worked on The Batman and Dune two films with amazing cinematography as well. Can't recall if he worked on the Star Wars shows but both Mandalorina and more so Andor both have that very gritty used look and feel to them just like Rogue One. Characters: The person who gave the plans to Princess Leia at the end was Raymus Antilles. Raymus Antilles should up at the end of of the Revenge of the Sith, Antilles was onboard the Tantive IV a Alderaan Cruiser owned by her step father Bail Organa who was the guy who rescued to Yoda and should up a few times throughout the Prequals ending with him and his wife holding Baby Leia as they're new child. Antilles is close with the Organa family so it makes sense that he would be onboard this same ship with 19 year old Leia. Bail Organa shows up in this film who we saw in Revenge of the Sith like I mentioned above. Mon Mothma the woman in the white robe would've shown up in Revenge of the Sith but her scene was removed, maybe she's in the background of a scene but at the time of The Clone Wars she was a Republic Senator who openly opposed Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's policies. We also have a few background characters who will appear in A New Hope which is why they're in this film so everything's all greatly connected really well. Saw Gerrera the main who released Jyn Erso as a kid is actually from The Clone Wars TV show an Onderon Rebel who was backed by the Republic in fighting the CIS even trained by Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan, Clone Trooper Captain Rex, and Ahsoka Tano. He's the first Animated Character to show up in Live Action who wasn't planned on being introduced to the big screen. Grand Moff Tarkin the character who may look a little uncanny is a famous character from A New Hope who was played by the late Peter Cushing who past away in 1994. As the character past away they created a CGI version of him using an actor as a stand in while covering his face with the CGI recreation of Peter Cushings face. This is the same with Princess Leia as well at the end of the film both character are pretty much fake but it does the job. We saw Moff Tarkin in Revage of the Sith standing beside Vader and the Emperor overlooking the incomplete Death Star. And of course a bunch of side characters who you'll see more of later in A New Hope and other films just too many to mention. Ships: So if you recall back to Revenge of the Sith we got to see the Venator-Class Star Destroyer a warship used by the Republic throughout the film. Well in this film you are introduced to the iconic Imperial-Class Star Destroyer in many ways the successor to the Venator-Class Star Destroyer. There's also the Victory-Class a ship that was introduced at the end of the Clone Wars that looked much more like the later Imperial-Class Star Destroyer but has never shown up in canon yet. The Hammerhead Corvette that rams into the Imperial Star Destroyer is heavily inspired by the Hammerhead-class cruiser which first appeared in the amazing Knights of the Old Republic video game in 2002 which was set around 3900 years before the events of the original movies used by the Republic. Pretty interesting that there using a design based on a 4000 year old ship but hey i love Knights of the Old Republic is one of my favourite games and i adore the Old Republic setting so I'm not complaining. If the design still works then I can see them using the design for 4000 years just introducing new models and ships. We also have the MC75 Cruiser used by The Mon Calamari admiral Raddus who led the assault on Scarif. Shuttle SW-0608 which we saw Rogue One use to land on Scarif along with their squadron of rebellion solders. Delta-class T-3c Shuttle which was used by Krennic and his Deathtrooper. This is an older model than the iconic Lambda-class shuttle which we see in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. TIE Striker It was specifically designed by a research group on Scarif to protect high-security Imperial bases in an atmosphere. Pretty sure it cannot travel into space which makes it very similar to a ship used by the rebels in Empire Strikes Back. The X-Wing flown by the Rebels such as Red and Blue Squadron are one of the most iconic Star Wars ships for reasons you'll see in the Original films. The X-Wing was the successor to the ARC-170 which we saw the clones fly in Revenge of the Sith and the Z-95 Headhunter a ship we see in other media such as comics and games from the 1990s and 2000s that was the Successor to the Republic ARC 170 but the precursor to the X-Wing. This ship also had a Republic version flown by Clones showing up in the later seasons of The Clone Wars TV series but not in the films. The Tie-Fighter is another iconic ship and one of my favourites flown by the Empire it's in many ways the precursor to the Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor flown by Anakin and Obi Wan in the ship of Revenge of the Sith. If you look at the windows of Anakin's fighter you can see the same window design that is used on the Tie Fighter linking them together while the Eta-2 had small panels on both sides similar to the Tie Fighters large panels. Pretty sure both ships were linked to the same company which is why they share many of the same designs. The Y-Wings flown by Gold Squadron are Republic Era ships used by the Republic at the time of the Clone Wars. The Rebels ripped the outer armour shell off the body to increase it's speed. The Y-Wing doesn't show up in the films but does show up in The Clone Wars TV show. There's more ships as well but there's too many to list so there's are the main one's you'll get to know in later films minus the Hammerhead and MC75 two ships created for Rogue One and have only appeared in media after 2016. Stormtroopers: So this is you're Introduction to Stormtroopers who are humanoid recruits made up of people from across the Galaxy. Sometime after the Clone Wars the Clones were phrased out in favour for normal enlisted soldiers. But the early Stormtroopers were clones once the Empire was formed the Clone Troopers became Stormtroopers it's just enlisted began pretty early so over the 19 since Revenge of the Sith most Stormtroopers are now just enlisted humans. There's also Army Troopers but we rarely see them in live action media even though the Army Troopers make up the backbone of the Empire. They wear more Militant gear instead of white armour which is only worn by Stormtroopers and look much more like a typical Army force while the Stormtroopers are this elite group of soldiers. We also see Coastal defender stormtrooper on Scarif also known as Shoretroopers who you'll find on more tropical planets introduced in this movie. We also see tank troopers who are riding in the new Imperial combat assault tank introduced yet again in this movie both the trooper design and the tank. These are all just normal Stormtroopers outfitted for different terrain and roles. The Black Armoured Stormtroopers are called Death Troopers who were an elite variant of the Galactic Empire's stormtroopers designed for stealth, espionage and lethality. These guys were actually the first image we saw of the movie as they were teased before the trailer came out. There very cool and stood around 6′5″ tall. Land Vehicles: We also see a turbo tank the successor to the Juggernaut tank from Revenge of the Sith used by the Republic. This tank also shows up in the Clone Wars and some video games. That interesting ship you see Rogue One in is called a U Wing created for this movie and is still used in alot of Star Wars media. Overall Rogue One has created the most Disney content in terms of Vehicles and ships along with droids and weapons seconded by Mandalorian. Stuff introduced in Rogue One can be seen in Video games, Comic's, Books, and other TV shows like Mandalorian and Star Wars Rebels. Overall thoughts: Overall I adore this film and it's prequal series Andor which for me has been the best Star Wars show to date 2nded by Mandalorian and Clone Wars. Andor is very different to you're more mainstream Star Wars so it's not for everyone and I know alot of people who just prefer Mandalorian to Andor and I love that how Star Wars can now have a range of shows for everyone from drama's to westerns to war films etc. i do think the 2nd half makes this film but I myself don't mind the built up etc. I do wish we got to know more about this characters but like I said that's what Andor atm is doing set 5 years before Rogue One it will follow these 5 years and showcase how everything came together and then end right from Rogue One starts just how Rogue One ends right before A New Hope.

Star Wars as a whole is far more than just Jedi and Sith.

This is the very best of all Star Wars movies. Just as "Andor" is the best series.
