Toyota's not getting any conquest sales from Tahoe/Yukon or Expedition owners. What an absolute horrid interior design.

Once worked for a guy that sold furniture and appliances. A lady came in complaining about the small size of the microwaves he sold. His line asking when the last time she cooked a turkey in her old microwave was. When I watch these videos and the comments I'm reminded of the day.

Jill, I super appreciate you crawling all over and demonstrating the different seating positions and cargo configurations. 👏 Most journalists do not go to that much effort when it comes to third row and cargo. Only other suggestion, which I understand would be difficult on these factory drive events, would be to demonstrate car seat installation ease and room.

Meh....that cargo space is weird. The raised floor under the 3rd row just made me cross this off my list. Back to Ford I guess. Appreciate you guys sharing this.

My 20 year old first generation Sequoia does everything these back seats do and more, offering a removable 3rd row and a completely flat load floor. Floor is at bumper height with no lip or shelf to lift over. Full-size spare underneath.

Best video yet showing the rear storage and multiple configurations. Not thrilled with the high floor but not many options with the battery pack. I figure there will soon be videos on DIY 3rd row seat removal.

Thank you for actually putting real cargo in the trunk! We were worried about fitting a double stroller but I think you've put our minds to rest. The shelf system is great...you don't really have a huge trunk with the 3ed row up, so you effectively double your "floor space" by having shelves.

I don’t know much of the differences between this and the competition. But looking at this video I can see some benefits to this design for my own use. May not be flat or whatever but would still work well for me and looks fairly versatile.

Need a completely flat loading floor. That shelf is such an after-thought. That whole 3rd row is an engineering fail.

One of the things I hated about Tahoe (previous generation) was the third row, where your knees are touching your chin. The previous generation of the Sequoia didn’t have that problem so it best the Tahoe in that area. Fast forward to current gens, Tahoe has far more leg room in the third row and independent rear suspension and the CURRENT sequoia doesn’t ?? This truck is starting to feel like a “heavy 4Runner”. We want Suburban capacity with Sequoia reliability…you don’t need a crystal ball to figure out the full size SUV market. We love the capacity of American trucks but hate the lack of reliability.

Could you measure how much room is from back seat to back door with 3rd row folded down? Wondering cargo size if you where hauling fishing rods. Thanks

What are those three “braces” for under the rear shelf? Do those come with every Sequoia trim? Are they there for the shelf to support more weight? Where are those 3 pieces stored when not in use? Also can you measure the height of the load floor at various heights? Then it will be easier to compare to Tahoe/GMC/Jeep etc.

Love the storage space in our Yukon. Two kids and a dog and plenty space. 6.2L is a plus also. Sequoia looks awesome though.

Jill is queen of demonstrating ease of use for not tall people!😂 third row seats are generally for Jill sized people or non paying customers! Jill fits well. Andre the TFL Russian bear didn’t fit quite as well. He definitely couldn’t wear a hat back there. Toyota certainly made their cargo area versatile!

As a current 2018 TRD Sport owner, I’m anxiously awaiting to test drive and inspect the new Sequoia.

Great review about cargo space, I love the new Sequoia but the cargo area design with second step shelf for a flat area is terrible, they should be keep independent suspension on the back to keep more inside room

Great review of 3rd row. I wish it was actually useful for humans as a full size suv and have cargo. Compared to new Tahoe the 3rd row seems useless. I’m glad you made a video just on this topic, most skip this part 👍

Good review. I did a road trip from Canada to California in a sequoia and took turns sitting in the third row and it was tolerable because the third row reclined and I’m also not a giant just an average 5foot 10. I’m glad the 23’s do so.

I was very impressed with the third-row seat and the shelf system. Gotta say though, Dave kinda spoiled us over at All Terrain Nation by spending the night is these vehicles. I think you two should do an all-nighter live stream. You know, to show the true comfort of the inside of the Sequoia.

I love seeing y’all together. Good marriages are such a blessing. That sequoia is significantly smaller than my 08. But of course has the hybrid and is super good looking. Which isn’t enough for me to buy it. Lol.

Most of the time, u dont have the not so tall stuff to carry around but you will have several or multiple short stuff to load.... if u know what i mean, u dont need to stuff it on top of each other... no pun intended...😉

Are there any packages on the SR5 that will offer cooled/ventilated seats and 2nd row Captains chairs? I'd love to have the TRD Sport and Lunar Gray, but those are only available on the SR5 and I NEED ventilated seats and capts chairs.

Feels like Toyota tried to put lipstick on pig. The choice is either have people sit comfortably with little cargo or squish them like a sardine and get and average amount of cargo. 🥴 The best people and cargo mover is a Sienna, I was hoping this came close but honestly your family will be miserable in this thing on road trips compared to a minivan.

Totally disagree. New Tahoe 3rd row and trunk space is far superior. Just bought a new big screen tv and I’m confident it wouldn’t fit in this, but it would fit in my Explorer and Tahoe diagonally or laying flat since Explorer offers more height space. Also have seen pictures of people cramming their medium to large dogs in the sequoia rear. Love the look of the sequoia but Toyota gets an F for the design that was not well thought out. Already own a 2021 Tahoe and love it and was planning on trading in my 2015 Explorer for a sequoia but I’ll likely end up getting a Tahoe myself since the Tahoe accommodates large families and pets better

Guys the back seat can be removed but with a little tool it's not permanently placed

I wish they had the option that we could order the sequoia in 2 rows only , not all of us need 3 rows . Hopefully the updated 4runner has more room and better options

It doesn't take much for a competing SUV to be better than a Tahoe. I bought a brand new 2016 Chevy Tahoe Z71 in black with black leather interior. Very striking vehicle. Until you actually drive it. The driver visibility of that thing was awful imho. So...I sold that beast in 2019 in a private sale with under 50,000 miles on it. I was shocked at the precipitous loss in resale value. Like I said, it doesn't take much for an SUV to be better than a Tahoe.

We waited years for this truck to replace our current Sequoia. Having just checked out a new one on the dealership floor, we're walking away unconvinced by this third row and shelf action. A bit surprised and disappointed.

Love the new Sequoia however, I'm still not a fan of the manner in which they did the 3rd row. The worse part of everything is the cargo setup. In my opinion and no matter how they or anyone else attempts to explain it, it's just not a practical layout.

That third row is a cluster you know what . I appreciate what they were trying to do but it just not practical.

Sorry but this sounded like an infomercial. Third row is a significant backward step compared to gen 2 and the competition. If you push the 3rd row seat all the way forward to get some luggage room then you cant put any average sized person in the third row seat. Push the seat all the way back and you can get a child or a very small person in the back for a short chin in-your-face ride but you will have to leave your luggage at home. To have this diabolical third row seat and luggage space work they should have kept an adjustable second row seat as well - but the battery placement now becomes a problem. Please use “average” sized adults if you really want to demo a legit. leg/shoulder/head room.

nah i was so hyped for the new sequoia was so happy but back row smaller then the second gen no sliding window and it a hybrid so i am vary disappointed with the new sequoia if i do upgrade my 11 sequoia propyl rather go for a gmc yokon

How come no one is mentioning the fact that this does not have Auto 4WD (4A) as a driving option? Are you supposed to drive it in 4H on a highway during the winter? This does not sound like a safe family hauler. Am i wrong?

3rd row floor height sucks and you have to choose between cargo or passengers. No one is sitting in those 3rd row seats slid forward. Tahoe can do both. From the side profile, this thing looks like someone cut the back end off of it. Looks like it should be a two door, older Blazer type vehicle....

TFL had Andre test out the 3rd row seating and his head was touching the roof. Also his knees were in his chest because his the floor is raised due to the solid axle. Anyway you slice it the 3rd row seating isnt as good as these guys are saying. Plus they are using Jill as an example.

Yukon XL blows the Toyota out of the water. Seriously no fold flat 3rd row. That in itself will make most people walk.

If you need to have one of your kids in the third row..doesn’t look like you can fit a full sized stroller or anything much in the trunk.

Decent analysis, but not sure how you can compare to a Tahoe or anything else without the other vehicle there for an actual side by side comparison. I think once these 2023s are out and people start making actual side by side comparisons that these will be much more representative and objective, and will actually show how the vehicles stack up. A very interesting comparison will be between the outgoing Sequoia and the new 2023 model in terms of interior space, people will be very surprised at the outcome...

Also, the Kia Telluride third row reclines....

Great video, but horrible news...clearly shows the major FAIL that Toyota is obviously embarrassed by. Literally -- the 2023 Sequoia is the only full size SUV that doesn't show pictures of third row and second row configurations on their website, and now we know why! Is it too late to put this on the list of "pre-production fixes" that Toyota needs to address? Tahoe/Yukon for the win for any family with large dogs that like to ride in a third-row fold-flat cargo area.

If you are just hauling people and not stuff, this looks pretty great but if you want to haul stuff at all its not great...its pretty bad. The third row seats look great.

No independent suspension, the ride quality might be rough over bad roads.

From the front seats forward the Toyota Capstone is the absolutely the best , the rest of it is at the bottom of the pile.

The cargo area is a massive fail. It looks like the load floor to roof is very shallow, impacting carrying tall cargo items. Without a truly flat load floor, it becomes unusable for transporting my Golden Retriever who always rides in the rear cargo area of my Yukon. I was hoping for better.

My biggest problem with Toyota and for that matter Lexus is that for the price tag they didn't bother to put more car seat anchors or tethers in the third row. My much cheaper 2020 Acura MDX has features that both Lexus L600 and 2023 Sequoia lack. It just blatant stupidity from their interior designers. In 2023 they have change holder in front but no car seat anchors.

This basically makes it impossible to have a dog in back. My Volvo has SUCH a massively better cargo area with flat third row seats and a bench 2nd row so I can easily load a ton of stuff and just slide it forward.

Hi handsome. My complaints are the following sound noise in cabin insulation, not having double panels glass in ALL glass, not having an extra large fuel tank for a coast to coast cannonball runs. Not offering satellite service for the life of the vehicle, the sequia lacks technology equivalent to audi A8L long wheelbase. This vehicle has a poor suspension and a poor monitor, I would like to have a Samsung note 23 plus ultra 12inch screen Toyota give us what we want.

Chevy / GMC did a better 3rd row, don't know why toyota decided decided not to use an independent rear end...other than that looks great. The jury is still out on the durability on the V6 turbo engine.

I'm with the comment ....When was the last time you cooked a Turkey in the Microwave? Better to have versatility than more space IMO. The place where this was designed people live in about 500 to 1000 square feet. Its not for everyone but neither is the President move along.
