Reading improves your focus and concentration.
With all the distractions nowadays, people have really big problems with concentrating. Don’t be one of them.
You're stressed out? Then pick up a book.
Research conducted in 2009 showed that reading is the most effective way to overcome stress.
Scientific studies show that reading actually makes you smarter.
Your body needs movement. That means your brain needs movement, as well. And reading is the best workout for your mind.

@@Frozan reading from screen is 10% slower than the hard copy of book (research's findings), and it'll have effect on your sight as well. Hard copy of books are best if available. From my experience, reading from hard copy keeps the reading habit strong and consistent, and reading from tablet is too much interactive, brings laziness and breaks the habit of reading gradually.

When I was like 8 I was a reading machine, my mom was like "oh she read so many books in Xmas break more than the whole class together" but then I gave up reading. It started feeling like a chore. Though here I am, 6 years later, having read about 3 books in the while of about a month, and one of them being one with 467 pages. I'm at page 438 or so. I had read half of it when I was eleven but I gave it up, so I restarted it 2 weeks ago. I'm proud of myself for turning to books again. They are a great escape. Once I finish with this one aka tommorow (the book is called House Of Secrets: Battle with the Beasts) I will start John Green's turtles all the way down.

@BetterThanYesterday
@BetterThanYesterday 6 жыл бұрын
This is a common problem many people face. I highly recommend you just start out small and read like 3-5 pages a day. Not too much, is it? You will soon notice that those few pages pile up and in the process you'll make reading a habit. Reserving a certain time in the day where you only read should also help a lot - for example 20 minutes after you wake up/before work/before going for a run etc.. Good luck :)

Interesting. On a good note, I am reading a book called Drop Dead Healthy by AJ Jacobs at the moment. Very interesting and can see myself finishing it. Already at chapter 7. I haven't read a book in a long time but can already notice it's increased my knowledge by just a slightest. I now know things I didn't before. But you could also learn things from the internet too i guess.

Could be cuz in my opinion scrolling down through social media has a lot of distraction like a attractive content and full of entertainment rather than education

I recently fell back in love with books. Even went to a used book store, was there for hours. A great book is journey, experience, that can stick w you for a lifetime. Most of my favorite books are ones that I read 30+ years ago, and some of which helped shape the person I became.

From the time my grandchildren could read, the only gifts I ever bought them was books. Later I bought them Barnes & Noble gift cards so they could choose their own. Today they’re in high school, both honor students. Reading pays off.
