For anyone wondering the lyrics of the guy`s song : St. James Infirmary Blues Folks, I'm goin' down to St. James Infirmary, See my baby there; She's stretched out on a long, white table, So sweet, so cold, so fair. Let her go, let her go, oh bless her, Wherever she may be, She will search this wide world over, But she'll never find another sweet man like me. Now when I die, bury me in my straight-leg britches, Put on a box-back coat and a stetson hat, Put a twenty-dollar gold piece on my watch chain, So you can let all them boys know I died standing pat. An' give me six crap shooting pall bearers, Let a chorus girl sing me a song, Put a red hot jazz band at the top of my head So we can raise Hallelujah as we go along. Folks, now that you have heard my story, Say, boy, hand me another shot of that booze; If anyone should ask you, Tell 'em I've got those St. James Infirmary blues.

LYRICS Folks, I'm goin' down to St. James Infirmary See my baby there; She's stretched out on a long, white table She's so sweet, so cold, so fair Let it go, let it go, god bless her Wherever she may be She will search this wide world over But she'll never find another sweet man like me Now when I die, bury me in my straight-leg britches Put on a box-back coat and a Stetson hat Put a twenty-dollar gold piece on my watch chain So you can let all the boys know I died standing pat An' give me six crap shooting pall bearers Let a chorus girl sing me a song Put a red hot jazz band at the top of my head So we can raise Hallelujah as we go along Folks, now that you have heard my story Say, boy, hand me another shot of that booze; If anyone should ask you You just tell 'em I've got those St. James Infirmary blues

The amazing thing is this rotoscoping is some of the only film of Cab Calloway at his height. Most theaters wouldn't show a film of a black man in any sort of leading role, so they used these great performers in cartoons.

Cab Calloway has better dance moves than other dancers in the world. He's the Michael Jackson of his time ever since he did the Moonwalk before he [Jackson] was born.

This short inspires creativity and wonder for me. It’s amazing, it’s dark yet fun. I’m glad I can see these old films in 2023.

When you see creativity like this, you realize exactly how far we have fallen. Greed, laziness, and corruption have dumbed us down to the point of mass idiocy. The generation that produced these cartoons were clever beyond our understanding.

Especially if you're too lazy to look up anything beyond the mainstream. And you're willing to overlook all the ways they were stupid.

I actually want to hear the opinions of someone who *was* there in the theater when this was new. They'd have to be at least 96 to 105 years old, though it might only _just_ be possible. A rare few people have gotten up to 115 years old, after all.

Roland Crandall was a hyper-adroit animator, as he provided nearly all drawings on this animated film. He should be mentioned as one of the greatest animators who ever lived. Truly outstanding character animation, and in 1933, for crying out loud!
