So here's my take - I'm an old guy that came into the original version and of course loved it. Usually old farts like us get real pompous when someone takes on a song of this proportion and/or we flat out hate it (like Phish's live version, ugh). But this is just fantastic and all I can say is so very well done!

I'm a big fan of a really good cover... If you're not yet familiar with between the buried and me.. the anatomy of and they cover everything from smashing pumpkins to Pantera to Metallica to Queen and then some. And they're all amazing! They basically very closely to some of the originals. But then went all out on some others and really brought their own sound to it. But I feel like I picked the exact right songs to do each with.. their cover of bicycle race is ridiculous. But if you want to check out some of their original I would recommend starting with the video on KZfaq for the coma machine

***** well, I'm a musician and I think I have a better understanding compared to someone who doesn't play an instrument. I'm not really the type to put lyrics first. I always try to grasp what the musicians are playing. It's only been out for 4 years and I didn't really start listening to it until 2 years ago.
@RMLLcrazy7 жыл бұрын
The Parallax 2 is really not the same without understanding the story behind it. If you haven't I suggest you read any of a number of really good interpretations online. It really changes your perception of a number of the songs. Knowing the story turns Silent Flight Parliament from an alright song to one of my favorite songs. So many nice lyrical bites in there. The owls calling humans ''Fucking Weaklings''. "Break in before the dawn of the sun, they are sleeping, holding each other... Like it's the last. And it is. Open the valve, feel the room. Open the valve... Say goodbye to everything." A lot of work was put melding the concept story with the amazing music and not paying attention to the lyrics feels like a huge loss to the enjoyment of this amazing album.

I whole heartedly expected this to be some screamo death core version of this and I’m glad I was pleasantly surprised... as far as covers go this is pure genius both stylistically and functionally. Using guitar to sub some of the vocals is awesome but even the singer sounded amazing as well (he’s no Freddie but the range was there) the guitar playing was very tasteful and not exactly like the classic but a new take on it and I loved how powerful the drums were compared to the original I think I have just found a reason to be hopeful for music again

I enjoyed it a lot musically but it does lack vocally when compared to the original. Obviously Giles isn't on Mercury's level but despite Giles being able to pull off falsetto vocals they probably made the correct choice to drop all the layers like the original had.
