I met Judge Reinhold (Officer Billy) on an airplane, returning to the US from Mexico. He had been on a Months (plural) vaca after finishing press for BHC. We sat beside each other on the plane (his gal on his other side) and he let me ramble about how awesome it was going to a performing art school (i was 15 sub-freshman), and never talked about himself. After we got through customs he pulled me aside and said : " Don't say anything, but I'm on my way to shoot BHC 2 right now. " I honestly has no clue what he was talking about, then a customs agent told me who he was. I had seem BHC , but was clueless the whole time. SUPER nice guy!

Glad you enjoyed the movie! Now, it's TRIVIA TIME! The scene when Foley is telling his "supercop" story was totally improvised! After working into the wee hours of the morning, they couldn't get this scene to work. The director advised Eddie to drink some coffee to perk him up, but Murphy had never had coffee before. The caffeine kicked in, and Eddie spat out that hilarious story right off the cuff! This caught the cast & crew off guard, and if you look closely, you can see John Ashton (Taggart) doing his best to hide his face, and Judge Reinhold (Rosewood) had to pinch his thigh though his pocket to stop himself from laughing, and apparently drew blood doing so! "Beverly Hills Cop II" is a fine sequel, however, the 3rd one was a huge disappointment.

Fun Fact: Sylvester Stallone was supposed to star in this movie and he pulled out TWO weeks before production started. He wanted to get rid of the humor and make it more action-based. Paramount hired Eddie Murphy two days later and the rest is history.. Stallone later on did a movie named Cobra that was based on the character he wanted to play in his version of Beverly Hills Cop..

I love those stories about actors who were supposed to be the star. Terminator 2, Billy Idol was supposed to be Robert Patrick role. He wanted to do it, and the studio wanted him. But he was in a motorbike accident that broke his leg in about 4 places, so that was him out. Tom Selleck was almost Indiana Jones, but he was contract tied up to Magnum PI.
@wiseguymaybe
@wiseguymaybe 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, if I remember right, I don't think Stallone had the humor written out, it was written as a serious movie for him. It was suppose to be a vehicle for Stallone, who was the biggest star of the studio at the time. But when Stallone departed, because he had rewrote a car case scene to be added to the movie that would have cost the studio millions of dollars to shoot, they couldn't very well fire their biggest star so studio head Jeffrey Katzenberg talked him out of Beverly Hills Cop by telling Stallone he had a better movie for him called......Cobra. When they cast Eddie Murphy the humor was added with the help of writer Sam Simon who later help create the Simsons. By the way Sly had no hard feelings about that. He admitted it was a much better movie when they cast Eddie.

Fun fact: The gray t-shirt Eddie wore in the movie - 'Mumford Phys Ed Dept' - is from Mumford High School in Detroit. The movie was so popular it created a huge demand for the shirt which was later sold in department stores after the movie's release. It was on the level of that leg lamp from A Christmas Story, something we didn't know we wanted until a movie made it iconic. I was 14 when my mother bought the tee for me. Vivid memory of talking my mom into taking me to see this (Rated R - I was 12) - awkward when the strip club scene came up! And there was some guy behind us who laughed so hard at the opening car chase - thought he was going to die! Btw - Gotta review 48 Hours!

The second Beverly Hills Cop is also worthy of a reaction. I may actually like it a tiny bit better than the first one. Also, since the villain in this also played a villain in a James Bond movie, would you ever consider reacting to some Bond films? Cause I would love to see that :)
