The racial hatred that followed after this performance is just only oneeee example of the reason why we as the HIVE will forever back her up! She’s a real philanthropist, an activist through her art! The controversy this performance cause was wild. They hated her being there and even more that she brought the Dixie Chicks with her (as they had pretty much been banned for years). Bey really just keeps going regardless of what anyone says and i admire that about her. 💜 We got your back, Bey!

The facebook comments were wild. Yoi would have thought Beyonce took away their livelihood. Im sure some of them had to take blood pressure medication because of the state they were in about her perfomance. 😂 They even forced the CMA to take down this video off their website. You should look up the interview where Natalie from the Dixie Chicks said that working with Beyoncé was the best experience of her professional career. Also, that they listened to the full Lemonade album every day while on their tour bus, and that they had such deep admiration for her talent that they were shocked and immediately accepted when she requested that they go live together and during practices were blown away by how much she busts her ass to get the perfect performance every time. You should also look up the interview where Dolly Parton said that the only remaining living person she wants to do a professional cover of Jolene is Beyoncé and she hopes Beyoncé will do to the song what Whitney Houston did to “I will always love you” which is transform it into a mega hit more than it already is. Real authentic bluegrass country women admire Bey, don’t let the haters tell you otherwise. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I never understood the hate she got for this. The woman was brown and raised in Houston Texas, her father’s family had farms , she grew up in southern culture. Country is what she is . She has appreciated and experienced all genres that inspired her. The soulful sounds of RnB, energetic connection with pop, emergence of hip hop and humbleness of country. That is everything that she is. People attack her and make it a race thing when it doesn’t have anything to do with race at all. Either you got it or you don’t. Nobody can stand in a country song better than someone that is from the country. That’s just it.

I hear you and co-sign most all of that... but Black women and men originated most all American music including country music, it has to do with race in that this history gets whitewashed out. It should not be controversial for a Black person to play country music at all, but there are a lot of loud racists...

They completely blew the roof off of that performance, and the crowd loved it. It was unfortunate that the CMA, who invited her to perform her song at this 50th Anniversary awards, decided to take this performance down on their CMA site because of really nasty and racist comments posted in the comments section. They claimed Beyonce called and told them to go ahead and remove it...but I think when you invite an artist to come to your event, that you should have their back. They should have just shut off the comments section, and released a statement that they do not support that kind of behavior on their platform...and left the performance up for people to enjoy. They wanted big view numbers so bad for this 50th Anniversary of the CMA show...so they knew inviting her was going to pay off because she has a dedicated following, and the Lemonade album was very well received with the public. The Dixie Chicks loved this song so much that they were performing it on the concert tour. Beyonce found out about it and was impressed. She said she grew up listening to them. So, when Bey was asked to perform this, she insisted that they come to perform it with her. Before the live performance, they went to the studio and recorded a version of this together(the studio version doesn't sound as big band as the live version), so once the performance happened, Beyonce dropped the song to purchase. The Dixie Chicks had been banned from the CMA'S for over a decade because they criticized the job performance of the, then President, George W. Bush, concerning the Iraq war, especially after 9-11. Can you believe that? Because they spoke their own thoughts about the performance of the president, they got black balled. I believe they were accused of being unamerican for not blindly supporting their president. Almost sounds like some right wing cult. I love this live version better though. It hits harder, and as you said, sounds full with, this big band sound. It felt more like a New Orleans Jamboree to me. Not even Kenny's sour puss face could kill the vibe. Mathew McConaughey was really feeling it. 😅

This song came out 8 years ago. And was a smashing success with over 100M streams on Spotify. It’s as authentic and traditional as a country song can be with its roots in folk, banjos, blues etc. it’s as Louisiana and Texas as country can get. Beyoncé nailed it. Being that she is the only STAR rated vocalist to have debuted in the 21st century (the last two before her were the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion) the world knew she was going to give a killer live performance. This became the most watched performance in CMA’s history despite the racist backlash it received by the gatekeepers of country music. Now in 2024, with Beyoncé coming out with a new country album, and awakening my eyes like an explosion to this genre, this has become my favorite song ❤

I freaking love the Dixie Chicks, and this song is one of my favorites off of "Lemonade". I'm not even a fan like that, but this album is a classic.

Merci de réagir à cette chanson qui a fait beaucoup de controverse à l'époque comme si Queen B n'avait pas le droit de faire une chanson country La musique est universelle Elle avait mis le feu avec dixie chicks 👏👏👏👏👏

The Chicks covered Daddy Lessons in their 2016 tour MMXVI. Beyonce asked them to help her perform the song at the CMAs that year.

What I find very telling about the performance which Beyonce and Dixie Chicks conducted were the TV ratings. That one performance had the highest rating of the entire show. Speaks for itself. BTW awesome review.

Lemonade is her best album in my opinion. The visuals are also nice. Renaissance is second, but you may not like it if you’re not into dance music.

❤️‍🔥🐝👑🤠👢 Hi from Brasil 🇧🇷

Think you might be slightly misunderstanding the song haha, in the song her dad isn't a good person, which is why there's the line "When men like me come around my daddy said shoot", basically saying if she ever comes across a man like him then shoot them lol. The song is about how her dad cheated on her mum a lot, but when her husband cheated on her, suddenly her dad was aganst cheating and it's hypocritical.

That’s how it is with Beyoncé, it takes multiple listens 😅😅😅 I always interpret the song both ways. Like yea, there’s the message to watch out for guys like me, which is hypocritical, but also the fact that the Dad would tell her to watch out for bad guys is good parenting and great lessons. So, it’s layered. I at least appreciate the passing down of standards. Some dads make their daughters feel bad about, or don’t fully support, their daughters leaving toxic relationships or watch them get wooed by guys that are obviously no good and say nothing. The dad is giving her game, which I can appreciate him for, even if he’s being hypocritical. There’s also the 2nd amendment references which is just also layered. Beyoncé doesn’t get enough credit for her writing.
