The thing about Beyoncé acting is that she's just well...Beyoncé. She never really disappears into her roles because her persona is too strong. That said, Dreamgirls slapped and everyone ate in that movie.

Her persona is the opposite of strong. She is very... pageant girl. Someone who is always in control but never really seems to be able to let go and let her personality shine. She comes across as clinical. Clean. No room for errors or offense or any sense of vulnerability. Even some of the supposedly candid and emotional moments in her documentary felt rehearsed and unnatural. Her Nala sounded robotic and stiff af and her Etta James didn't feel natural and too put on. Whitney Houston was actually someone with a strong personality, whose strong sassy Newark personality shone through in any role and even her songs.

Oddly enough I always thought Beyoncé was sorta the opposite of other bad actors. I think she does high-intensity scenes fairly well. It's the scenes where she just has to be a normal person and act natural where she really struggles lmao. It's honestly adorable. It doesn't surprise me at all that she struggles with acting despite being a performer. She's talked about how's she's not a naturally charismatic person and was initially pretty timid and shy. Her on-stage persona is very clearly something she crafted to be able to cope with it all. Watch her in interviews and she can be pretty awkward and sometimes struggles to find the right words. It's pretty endearing actually. The scenes were she argues with Idris and the where she drags the final destination girl through the house...truly immaculate. I don't know what to tell you 🤷🏿‍♀️

At any point she could have screamed he attacked her and his whole life would have been destroyed. No matter what he said he was in physician to be treated like a monster. @@kissit012 Thank you for proving the point and the victim blaming. Also you forget that this movie came out years ago, way before racial issues and rape culture were spoken about much. Even nowadays, men are seen as inherently aggressive and sexual, and black men even more so. If a young, skinny, conventionally pretty white woman had accused him of assaulting her, people would have said exactly what you did. "Oh he's stronger than her, oh he's her boss why didn't he just push her away, oh well he was friendly with her a few times so it can't have been r*pe, oh well he's a man and men are always interested in sex" etc etc etc Hell regardless of all that, it is NEVER the victim's fault that they were assaulted. It is NEVER the fault of the person who was hurt that someone traumatized them. It is always 100% the perpetrator's fault. Period, the end.

This movie pissed me off a lot for the way derrick was not really seen as a victim. I mean, the man was assaulted, stalked and framed for a crime he didn't do but in the end, it's derrick who apologized to sharon and made up to her. What the hell? But then again, it mirrors reality awfully so I'm not surprised.

I think it's the toxic male mentality which things that men will sleep with any woman who is willing and that men don't say 'no'. I've known guys who will have sex with girls who they have no respect nor liking for because the opportunity to have sex was there. I view both parties to have some degree of trauma issues when it comes to sex and need therapy...serious therapy. But that frat boy mentality is out there 'she's hot, you can't be serious you don't want to tap that'. I'm glad to see that SH and SA of men is starting to be taken seriously in society or at least social media. However, if schools taught comprehensive sex education, including consent, SA and rape would go down exponentially.

I actually thought the same as every one about the whole "Beyonce is just beyonce when she's acting" but then i thought "Its it that she can't get into character? Or is it that the idea, image, and persona of Beyonce is so ingrained in what we know of her that when she tries to break away we can't get that image out of our head. Bc tbh Beyonce character wasn't really all that compelling or interesting. She seemed like a regular degular wife and mother. Thats all we knew of the character, wasn't much personality. So really Beyonce didn't have much to work with to begin with. So thought "Maybe is not that her acting in the movie is bad, perhaps the character is just boring enough where all we see is the persona of Beyonce attached to an already pretty bland character."

@@kikigam7113 lol 100% I'm hoping Kennie will do a video or an episode of In Defense Of for Glitter because nobody can tell me it's a bad movie 👀 purely for nostalgia 😆 & Valarie Pettiford singing 🤩

Personally when I saw Cadillac records or dream girls I think Beyoncé can act it’s just not the best but definitely not that bad she does better in movies that involve music

Yup. She doesn't have range a lot of actors don't have range. Hell some really good actors or performances come from people who don't have range. But because she couldn't be as versatile and dominant in the acting space she gave it up instead of finding her acting lane and improving on it.
