sarah oh my god 😭 like i love the pod and i love listening to you guys and you’re both some of my favorite people out there but the beyoncé discourse was extremely uncomfortable to sit through, like idk if you’re going to comment on the making of an album at least do some research (reading beyonces IG post about the album?)??? also the whole not everyone who wears a cowboy hat and sits on a horse can be considered country is such a ridiculous comment because the point of her making a “country” album was to reclaim the genre for herself as country music has a history of stealing from black people…. also not the move on dragging taylor in, it’s okay to have you’re own preferences but it felt like you were trying to put beyoncé down with the comparison 😭

Lol I'm sorry but the commentary on Country Carter from Sarah is....something. If the album didn't move you, fine. But I think if you're gonna have this much of an opinion you should probs listen to the entire album or at the very least look up the backstory to why this album was created in the first place (there are plenty of articles out rn that explain this). Beyonce literally spells it out in her statement on her website/IG with her experience performing at the CMA's with The Chicks (formally known as The Dixie Chicks). And even prior to that, her country-ness has always been questioned throughout her career which is wild considered she's from HTX and her family tree is rooted in the deep South. She didn't just slap random artists on this album for the hell of it. She featured Black artists in the Country scene as well as the greats. Like other's have pointed out, please get cultured on this bc you're teetering the line on sounding like a lot yt folks that were saying she is not country and her music doesn't belong on Country radio stations, which ironically is what they did to up and coming Black Country artists back in the day. Bey's three act albums are exploring and reclaiming the genres (House/Dance, Country, and potentially Rock & Roll) that were created by Black people and unfortunately stolen from Black people. Pls do your research.
