Being a collector and recently getting into tektites, I was BLOWN AWAY to learn about Georgiaites. I’m from southeast Georgia and we mainly hunt for fossils but have found many rocks and gemstones throughout our hunts! I never knew my state had tektites! I’ve become full blown obsessed with gemstones and also this channel! Thank you for all the information it really is so interesting.

Have you found any? I lived in the south my whole childhood and am thinking of planning a trip to georgia and texas to look for tektites

Me too me too, except I'm in Texas and tektites in the town I live in are called Bediasite, said to be from meteor impact about 34 million years ago.. what what. Wow. I'm obsessed too, and I feel like Bediasite should be worth more than diamonds. It certainly is rarer and ridiculously old, and the pieces I found look brand spanking new. Incredible. Somehow, I also developed an obsession with gemstones due to my Bediasite obsession. I'll be learning how to faucet gems here very soon once I figure out what machinery I want/need... I have a strange gut feeling certain tektites will become extremely valuable when the trend takes hold.

A few corrections: Microtektites (belonging to the Australasian strewn field) have been found at multiple localities in Antarctica. Darwin is 1844 not 1857. The Australasian crater is believed to be around 40 km across by all reasonable and scientific estimates of the ejecta - 15 km is way way too small for the energetics. Australasian strewn field has no known craters (but a crater does exist)... the suggestion of 20 craters is made up - this is found absolutely nowhere in the scientific literature. The Apollo modules were not modelled on tektites. The research on tektites was somewhat of an offshoot of the Apollo program and went hand-in-hand, but did not lead to the design per se. Also worth mentioning Bediasites, Belize tektites, and Ivory Coast Tektites, plus related material like Darwin Glass and Atacamaites. Just for clarification, those interested in tektites should be aware that Agni Manitite, Saffordite, Colombianite, Healdsburgite, etc. are volcanic obsidian and have nothing to do with tektites (other than commonly being fraudulently sold as such). Also be aware that the Moldavite market is flooded with fake glass from China, so buy with extreme caution.

Pretty sure the glass from China is real glass. The glass is real, but they use real glass to make fake tektites

Columbianite next! Its a pseudo tektite I think. a volcano erupts and send the bits into the atmosphere and they cool on re entry just like tektites but it originates from volcanoes instead of meteor collisions!

Make sure it is a vintage piece from the 90s or older. Because tektites , specifically Moldavite, hadn't yet become worth making counterfeits. No it's not flawless ,but it should help. Natalie was transitioned out. That's why all the guest host stuff was happening. She was training her replacements. I miss her point of view as well. She was charming and smart. The new hosts are good, but...they are also the kids of the CEO of JTV . Which is also on its way out .to be replaced by another gem related website.

Incase people are wondering, naturally made glass does indeed count as a gemstone. It doesnt have to be a Feldspar, Quartz or anything else that takes millions of years to form to be a gemstone.

Thanks for the information! Something to mention since I'm from Florida and partial to the area: the beach sands of Indian Pass deserve mention because they're the whitest in the world. I envision pecky cypress with inlays like orgonites for a chair to meditate in while I drink a tea made with gensing and tupelo honey... maybe self heal or something if I luck up and catch it taking over the garden. So says the voice of the continuum. I have an adventurous miner to relay this video to. I'll post it to his calcite clam dig. I'd imagine he would like to find one of those special pearls of wisdom! And it's near the coral castle. It needs shungite! Maybe we'll find some here too? It wouldn't hurt the gulf at all, that's for sure. Better it than the disbursement. Hind sight is 20:20. Blessings!

Thanks if anyone took a look. its really strange looking. has this blueish tint all over it.
