Oh man, Hes back, Ive been anticipating this.

This is no excuse for the continuity in the series, but it could be a fun way to watch them: In the first movie, there is a deleted scene where Dan finds out that Herbert shoots up a bit of his own reagent to get a boost. Kind of like taking adderall when you don't actually need it. I then saw it as a side effect of taking the reagent while still alive, gave him regenerative abilities. Or at least make him much harder to kill. Which would explain why he's still alive after the first two movies. They seemed to have kept that effect for when the druggie prisoner shoots it up. That's also why Herbert tells him to stop. He knows the limits of it, but is then equally curious as to the result of taking too much. The overdose. Of course, none of this is cannon because the scene was deleted in the first film, but I still like to have it in my mind as I watch them. (Though I still don't care for the 3rd one)

RIP Stuart Gordon. You made some truly remarkable films during your time and excelled at adapting Lovecraft's work. Side note: Have you ever considered reviewing the Terminator films? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the series as a whole.

Ahhh, nothing quite like H.P. Lovecraft Month! I wonder if Deus will ever review the anthology film "Necronomicon"; it doesn't just have Jeffrey Coombs, it's got Coombs *playing* H.P. Lovecraft! Another thing I'd be interested in seeing is Deus sharing his thoughts on other Clive Barker films; he's done the Hellrasier series, but I'm curious what is his take on Night Breed and Lord of Illusions.

Ah, October. Lovecraft Month. Something I honestly find myself looking forward to the past couple of years. Though for me, it's also Junji Ito month, as I read his stuff almost every night in October.

I'm a patron, but I waited until today to watch this video because I wanted it to be part of my October celebrations for my first day off in my favorite month. Stumbling upon your first HP Lovecraft month is what got me to your channel to begin with and I have been looking forward to this for a while.

After all these year we finished "Reanimator" movie franchise "Now that he is gone and the spell is broken, the actual fear is greater. Memories and possibilities are ever more hideous than realities."

The mcdougall experiments would be something West would reference and despise. The experiments themselves would be something West would look into as a means to find or refine the reanimation process. The reason why would be where West would have problems, because mcdougall was using science to prove religion or at least an aspect of religion was right. West is a true atheist, will disembowel the religious reasons and focus on the science. And in the universe where not only the gods are real and at generous indifferent. Speaks for itself.

I do enjoy this movie, but I admit it's pretty flawed. Honestly, I watch these movies mainly for Jeffrey Combs. As for his ability to fight his creations now, I do think there's an explanation: dude's been in prison for 13 years. And being who he is, and acting as he does, he'd have to get tougher to survive. We saw only a little slice of his time, and he had someone ready to shank him. No way a guy like him makes it in lockup without getting tougher. Also, yeah, it was Dan who turned evidence against him. We see him loaded into a cop car, and likely after the horror show of the last movie, Dan had enough and wanted to make sure West got locked up for good.

The prisoner biting the nurse's breast scene seems almost like a homage to Burial Grounds where a zombie child bites his mother's breast.

I remember Reanimator being the cause of the song Move your Dead Bones. A song that is always stuck in my long term memory. It was awesome learning about the series. Here's to the next video and have a great day man :)

Given how often these films reference the Rats in the Walls, I'm surprised there's never been an adaptation of it. Given what I know of the story, It seems like you could have a really interesting horror film that no one's tried to produce.
