Good Business interview...Andy and perhaps Farai are the only credible Business Journalists in Zim. Andy's background, as a Banker/Trader/Dealer helps dissections business issues. Media Institutes, Uniz should use such folks to train Zim journalists in business coz I once watched Blessed Dhara struggle with basic business concepts in one interview. Same with the lady editor from Newsday/The Independent. The other option is to have Media students take compulsory Business, Technology and Science courses in Uniz in Zim.

You can’t be stuck in the past. There used to be only landlines in Zim until mobile phones came into play. Same thing with standard internet being overtaken by starlink. We can’t be stuck in the Stone Age, times are moving, technology is evolving, it’s time the standard internet providers improve their service nationwide, reduce prices and do their job right for once

Fascinating how he casually glosses over the fact that IMC is a monopoly imposed by a literal presidential decree then goes on to lecture us about the benefits of competition. The man has casual conversations with the regulator's Director General who promised him a license before due diligence has been completed and long before they have finished "calculating" their costs because he is acting to fulfil the president's vision. A one-man company with secret shareholders was handed a monopoly, without going to tender, to distribute a technology which they neither developed nor introduced into the market. In a normal society this would be a scandal for the ages. This is how states fail. I wouldn't be surprised that Danny, had he still been leading Liquid Telecoms, would be amongst the loudest critics of this arrangement, it sets a very dangerous precedent which he will soon or later become a victim of.

Good interview Andy, in my opinion all the concerns have been addressed. The existing players have themselves to blame, we are here in Ruwa where the internet is not the best and Starlink will come in handy. We once approached one major internet service provider who has working network just two kilometres away and we told we needed to self fund the project as they did not have a budget for our specific area. Competition is good for us there is no need to protect companies with CEOs with poor vision, there is no doubt internet has become a basic human right

other operators where just too lazy to invest in infrastructure especially in Damafalls and ruwa area they tell you their towers are at full capacity in this era of Vlans and large capacity radio antenas now IMC lets do this thing and prove life is easier with Starlink i wont mind sharing a starlink with 8-15 of my closest neightbours.

IMC is not promoting competition, its literally an exclusive Starlink supplier.

Telecoms companies will not lose market share that quick considering consumers will continue to part with $1 to get a sim card and a $15_$30 for a basic monthly subscription versus $450 first purchase + $50 subscription. Probably starlink will have some success in the corporate world for now. At this point we can't even talk for rural folks, unless we want to be joking around.

Bringing in Starlink would be great for the general consumer as we would have increased competition, but making IMC an exclusive supplier of it who can even stop others from roaming does not make any sense. Is it not hypocrytical that he talks about how healthy competition is for any enviroment as customers will be taken advantage of but he himself coming into play in the form of a monopoly...? With all due respect, this has not been informative at all. Mr Marandure could not even say a definitive answer on the capacity the home kit would have, could not explain why IMC are an exclusive provider and explained it as a solution for the poor in the rural areas but the general price ranges he just mentioned are a non-starter for them. Does not any sense.

Danny said, Elon is seized with fixing upload speed. But earlier he said "our" engineers (IMC engineers) will recommend which package and probably location of the hardware. I thought they are the ones seized with the task. Come on! You are just a middle man, there is nothing technical that you can do with your so called platform

Well this turned out to be a useless interview. For starter's the presenters technique if any is chaotic to say the least, regular unwarranted interruptions, you failed to do proper follow up Questions. You let the guest turn this into an amusement show of him showing off how big his nuts are. While the past matters we need more info ABT the future. You let the guest get the better off u, telling u your questions are irrelevant, people really want to know who IMC is, shareholding shldnt be a secret, let alone just define on the abbreviation IMC. guest can't tell u that it doesn't matter who they are, sheep in wolves clothing? Let's call IMC what they are, a glorified monopolised tuckshop, u can't tell me u can stop me from using a device I bought elsewhere becoz u distribute it in another region. I can buy a cellphone anywhere and use It wherever I want with whatever provider I choose, or to roam. Reading a Wikipedia page ABT this guy wld have been a better use of my data, u needed to grill him hard. Denny J would have done a splendid job here.
