Inspired by Nikola Tesla, Mate has always been fascinated by invention, exemplified by his early schoolboy innovations like the ‘Electric Glove’ - designed to replace a mouse and keyboard. He had filed two patents by the age of 17 and at 19 had transformed his 1984 BMW E30 into a record-breaking electric vehicle, setting five FIA-approved and Guinness World Records.
