John Harris has always sought out the bigger perspective of things, the sense of the Future, the reality of the Space in which we find ourselves. The infinite, luminous void surrounding us is the stuff from which we are made and has been an endless source of inspiration to him.
In this film, John talks about the origins of the imagery in his work, and how much of it found its natural home in the genre of science fiction.
There is now a book, The Art of John Harris; Beyond the Horizon, which contains most the work shown here and much more.
The book is available from the link below:

I know what you mean but I don't like this kind of future-visions.

I always loved this man's artwork but never knew his name or his story. Hearing his thought process behind his work and his inspiration from dreams is very enlightening. Thank you for creating this!

I find it so strange that I recently found out about this artist, bought an art book of his and the same day I found this video was uploaded 🤔 great insight into his thought process!

no surprise. We're living in a computer simulation and these things happen all the time. Otherwise the chances of that coincidence occurring would be like 1 in a million. Great video from a wonderful channel. Art books have provided me a much-needed escape from real life. I have my easy chair set up with a desk, a lamp, a blanket and a cup of coffee. I spent many hours with dragons, unicorns, space battles, pixies, dark forests, giant robots and medieval knights. My art books are the best investments I ever made. My 3 favorite art books, all available from amazon, are: - Fantasy Art Paintings by Mike Hoffman - Infinite Worlds by Vincent DiFate - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson

How glad I am for this video. Thank you Magenta Films! I loved hearing about his great philosophy and way of seeing life. I have the book on his art but this video has so much stuff that's not in the book. Great closeups, the master himself sketching new things and sharing with us. I am a professional visual effects artist for movies, and that's really more technical arts than arts in the traditional sense, but I am starting oil painting because I am so inspired by his works. Now I will watch the vimeo video!

Because there are too many artists in the world and they are lost in an oversaturated world of creatives. Plus art is no longer the biggest medium, it’s technologically based. unfortunately. This man would be seen as a master if he was born in the 19th century.
