It's the 20th anniversary of Beyond the Sea this year and I just discovered it a few nights ago on Amazon Prime. It reminded me of how versatile, charming and talented Kevin Spacey is. He is one of the greatest on the stage and screen. I hope he has a big comeback in Hollywood and isn't just limited to overseas independent movies that no one ever hears of.

This guy is good at whatever he does. He's great at impressions, a comic and dramatic acting ace. He has big presence. Katie Couric, (a major A-list personality herself) who has interviewed every head of state and every other famous person in the free world is absolutely giddy in his company. It also seems like the NBC house band enjoyed this and were giving it their best. I've always ranked "The Usual Suspects" among my favorite movies, mostly because of Mr Spacey, and the diabolical character he played.

He's a magnificent actor too, who can command both stage and screen. I saw him in Richard III and the Philadelphia Story at the Old Vic Theatre in London years ago and I was blown away by his performance. Of course, I've seen most of his films too and he's been one of my favourite actors of all time.

If you want to test your home theater sound system, get the DVD of the movie “Beyond The Sea” The terrific music tracks were recorded both in London and in Berlin. What is great in this disc, is that Kevin’s voice is solid and recorded only into the center channel. This means you can mute or turn off all others channels and hear only Kevin’s voice. He is spot on! The entire music recording is suburb!! If you ever get the opportunity to hear it on a fully professional studio system, you will be amazed. It's GREAT...applause now.

I actually remember seeing this live, knowing it would be memorable when I realized they were going to do BTS, but still being utterly blown away by the end. That voice, that band, that arrangement, those moves. On the country’s top-rated TV morning show, live and effortless. Cool, like Sinatra at the Sands cool. How about Kevin beckoning Katie with the little finger gesture to dance during the bridge? You can’t learn that, you’re born with it.
