5:30 Game of Thrones established the formula of shocking moments by NOT having them every episode. Why are you expecting shocking stuff from the first 3 episodes of the season? (Even so I feel like Blood and Cheese was pretty shocking) The whole reason GoT's moments were so intense and surprising is because they were built up to over time. Ned's death was the end of season 1. The first big battle of the series was at the end of season 2. The next major character death after Ned really wasn't until the Red Wedding at the end of season 3. If they had shocking moments every episode, they wouldn't be shocking!

Great ep. Also loved how Corlys didn’t like the idea of Rhaena taking over as Lord of Driftnark but was upset that Rhaenys was passed over in favor of Viserys. Not sure what people were expecting y’all praised the slow burn of last season. English actors don’t really seem to give a sh- about nudity so I wouldn’t be surprised if Ewan didn’t care.

Grace’s argument is one of the times. In order for shows to compete on a week to week basis in today’s market each episode needs to have a major event or reveal and for an 8 episode season that’s not a tall order. Look at the success of Fallout. Each episode had a major reveal or cliffhanger.

As, to give Grace credit, if you stop to think about it yes...Game of Thrones felt bigger because it was bigger PLENTY of characters and places fighting for different reasons AND the throne. While HOUSE it is just the fight for the throne amongst the Targaryen. ...and it is still great. Just different. Plenty of stories to tell yet: prior to House of the Dragon (the first Targaryens), prior to that when there were 100 kingdoms, after GoT and whatever stories they wish to tell.

Ulf didn't 'skip' Rhaenyra! He shout out Rhaenyra s Queen and Jace as her 'rightful heir'. Rhaneyra is Queen, she is no longer 'heir'.

It was a great episode. I’m rewatching GoT and the first season was very talky, and character and world building. This episode was very much like that. Also the nudity was really pretty tame after watching season 1 of GoT, and yes, used to highlight the shame Aemond may of felt of being caught looking for comfort, but also his defiance and pride.

This was such a fire episode Grace lol. This has been a great building up to the eventuality of the dance. I like that instead of having people just rushing to battle and blood, we have two factions both trying to make war the very last option.

Slow burn stories make the great battles even better, the little moments… These last two episodes reminded me of earlier seasons of GOT.. alot of fans look back at GOT and only think of the battle scenes when its real power was in its quiet moments.

Max ridiculously increased prices. People are waiting to binge it. I had predicted it from day one when studios started to create their own streamers. …….. it was going to be just as expensive as cable and here we are. That’s why churning exists now.

Rhaenyra's counsel was right, she's too weak to be leading a war because she refuses to take any action.

God's Eye is a sequence that's absolutely made for a finale. Rook's Rest will be it's own, no mash up there.

I really enjoyed the episode! Interesting plot details and things happening with the chess pieces. You also got Rhaenyra and Alicent meeting up finally. Action will be happening in spades over the next 5 episodes, so don't worry about the "slowness" of the season. This season hasn't bored me at all.

I'm glad the showrunners don't have "sharing on social media" in mind, unlike the stupid idea Grace has. And this series' audience rates are still healthy, it's not the stinker over there at Star Wars. FFS

I laughed as that nude scene didn't even register to me. I didn't even think it was important and here you are analysing it so much 😅

I think the slow burn adds to the suspense but also shows the restraint and how much Rhaenyra has of her father’s temperament in her. It really makes the characters feel truly related.

I don't understand. This was such a great episode! What's with the bad review? Also, Aemond's nudity scene wasn't a huge deal.

I'm pretty sure that there are at least 2 more kingsguard who served Viserys who sided with Aegon. Also the battle above God's eye happens way later.

The scene with Aemond and Aegon will come up again later in the future. In my opinion is was great character development between the 2. Showing how much they really don’t understand each other and how ashamed Aemond feels during this moment will definitely come back up later.

I honestly think the ratings are due to dropping at the beginning of summer. If they dropped in late August or September like last season, they would have better numbers. These episodes are amazing for their character development. Rheanys' lines about the war are so great, including the discussion with Rhaenyra about what incident started it. And I am very curious where this Daemon hallucinating bit is going to go. But the best was the last scene. Allicent clearly realizes what Viserys was really saying on his deathbed, but she refuses to walk it back and admit to everyone that he didn't really say Aegon was to be his successor. So tragic!

I am led to understand that Damon's property title is prince. Ranera (sp?) is the aspiring Queen, who is Your Grace. Damon as the Queen's husband would never be your Grace. The insistence of the title by Damon is fanciful hubris which the Strong guy may be mocking, but recognizing a pretender/usurper could also be deemed as traitorous to Sir Strong guy.

I like this pace, ever since game of thrones one of the best parts about the storytelling was going through how every player puts their own pieces on the board to play the game of thrones and that makes all the big moments and battles EARNED, because we’ve been with all the characters understanding how it came to each point.

I think Grace forgets that GOT was at its worst when it was tonnes of shock every episode. The episodes were best when we had episodes of worldbuilding. I think Grace should go back to the first 3 seasons.

Hmmmm….feel like we watch completely different shows. This was a great episode and it’s nice to have a show with good writing and acting. Almost every other reviewer I’ve see liked this episode and Also hyper focusing on the Aemon scene is odd. the other bad shows you’ve been hyping are breaking your brain or something.
