The aircraft performance is relative so you can still do it in WWI airplanes, but the amount of vertical you gain and the turn circle size is reduced when considering their much smaller energy state compared to WWII airplanes.

What are unloaded maneuvers? Like G forces loads?
@mckseal
@mckseal 5 жыл бұрын
Technically, unloaded maneuvers are 0G and allow for high roll rates and maximum speed gain. But I think Roan is referring to negative G maneuvers which are mainly defensive moves. These are very useful for spoiling an attack (give them a good gun solution, start a steady turn, then go full nose down and they'll probably miss and overshoot), porpoising to force a close range overshoot or feinting a 109's lack of control in high energy dives by starting a break turn then going neg G (they either overspeed further to follow you or pull off) while still being in position to shoot them on the way up.

I'm new and these lessons are extremely informative. I'm a long, long way from attempting multiplayer. Must stick to single player to learn and practice. I wonder. Do AI, set on ace, utilize these maneuvers when doing a one on one mission?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ray, the AI won't really do the maneuvers like this. It tends to be rather predictable just turning in circles...fighting people is where these maneuvers becomes really useful.

@@RequiemsACTL Fascinating! This "just turning in circles..." is precisely what all my one on one fights become. That's disappointing and I guess I'm must join multiplayer and become a sitting duck until I learn something.

Dude, your tutorials are my go-to for learning this game. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have lots of trouble doing vertical loops as I tend to stall out. Is more power required or is it an AOA issue?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL Жыл бұрын
If you're stalling out at the top you're either not carrying enough airspeed initially to get you through the maneuver or you're pulling too much G, bleeding off your airspeed. Try going faster or not pulling back on the stick as much

@@RequiemsACTL I'm learning that some planes (usually the ones with good roll rates) tend to bleed off energy badly compared to German fighters that are the essence of an energy fighter.
@stix_0910
@stix_0910 5 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I guess your plane would need to have good roll rates at the speed its doing. This could be difficult in say a bf109 at higher speed under some lockup. So really its more suitable for planes like the fw 190 that have great roll rates or planes not going too fast that would be getting lockup on ailerons. in that case you are prob going to be back into boom and zoom.
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 5 жыл бұрын
The rollrate is a factor as is the amount of vertical you take. If you're in an airplane/situation where you know you are going to have trouble with the rollrate then you can unload while you are climbing to help speed up the roll rate as much as possible. Otherwise it will take a long time and you may end up in a deep lag position that could allow the bandit to reverse and force you to overshoot.

What are the best defensive maneuvers? Could you make a video explaining the basic concepts of energy fighting too?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 5 жыл бұрын
The defensive maneuver you use depends on what your opponent is doing so there is no "best" one. It's a matter of recognising what's happening and making your move. No defensive maneuver always works either...sometimes you do everything right and just die.

@@RequiemsACTL Understood, but what would be a list of "must know" defensive maneuvers?
@mikkykyluc5804
@mikkykyluc5804 3 жыл бұрын
@@01MeuCanal I realize this is very old, but in case you still play combat flightsims: best to start simple. Put yourself in the shoes of the other pilot, imagine what would make the shot the hardest. Then execute that. I've found that this often means break turning into the enemy as well as slightly downward, which means I suddenly start closing to him very fast and disappear under his nose(lowering nose for a shot is usually slower/harder than raising). You can also use well-timed break turns to ruin someone's attempt to bounce("boom-and-zoom") you. After you have that down, you can expand into other maneuvers. Most defensive maneuvers are simply trying to make the person behind you overshoot. The simplest are scissors, both flat scissors and rolling scissors. Don't try to learn all maneuvers at once. Just focus on trying them one at a time and incorporate them little by little into your reportoire.

As they are easily defeated nobody really uses those maneuvers in multiplayer in il2. I think those are more of a jet era maneuvers. The idea is to maintain position but not too close to get those sidewinders into good parameters for a fox 2 shot. In a FW or 109 experienced pilots will go for maximum closure intercept course for a deadly high aspect deflection shot.
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah Korny I agree against an aware opponent this is easily defeated in WWII fighters, but there are times where the guy isn't focused on you, loses sight, or is just generally not aware of you so I think it is still useful regardless of the era.
@JG27Korny
@JG27Korny 4 жыл бұрын
@@RequiemsACTL Indeed but still it was most used by Phantoms for fox 2 attacks. They need to stay close and behind but not too close. That does not mean it can't be used in ww2 scenario.
