In the first episode of CarDekho Explains series, we discuss the nitigrities and the pros/cons of the BH registration. The government of India has introduced the ‘BH’ (Bharat) number plate series. They came into effect from September 15 and Orissa was the first state to issue the BH series plate. The new BH series does away with the need to re-register when you move to a different state and therefore, it’s particularly beneficial for defense personnel, government employees, PSU employees, and private sector companies with offices in more than four states. All details that you need to know are here!

The majority of people purchase their vehicles 🚗 on loans, so even if it seems legit where you can avoid high upfront fees, remember to consider the renewal fees as well. Because, at that point, you need to pay for your EMI as well as the renewal fee.

@@cardekho @TechTalk Teardown Hello sir, Does RTO verify the Address by visiting personally?( I have documented proof but, i dont live there at the moment).Should I have to be available at that address? Is electricity bill mandatory of that address? Or is it possible only with working cert, Aadhar, company id and form 60 as oer the dealer? Kindly advise. As i am afraid the dealer might be misguiding me for sales.

Could you please clarify below mentioned points: 1. Is BH Tax Percentage calculated on Ex-Showroom? If yes, do we need to minus 28% GST from Ex-Showroom and then apply the formula? 2. If a office is already in 4 states in india but someone is working from home only. Is that applicable here because in Form-60, it is only mentioned to give consent that company has 4 offices and nothing regarding an employee’s working mode if it is transferrable or not? Kindly assist.

Working with a consulting firm(more than 4 offices in state/UTs) based out of Gurgaon. I recently purchased my car from my hometown on 1st November 2022 due to work from home. Now dealer is giving hell lot of excuses in issuing BH number due to work from home. Twist here is BH registration is not yet started in Gurgaon and local RTO in my hometown is not allocating BH number as my company doesn't have office in my hometown. They are only giving BH number to government employees. It's a headache now !!

If Car purchasing state and state mentioned in my Aadhar card is different from each other.....in that case, Am I eligible to apply for BH from any of state....or I have to apply from car purchasing state only.....?? 3. I would like to mention that Invoice price to be considered is excluding GST. Say if car is of 10 lakh, than tax will not be calculated on 10 lakh. It will be calculated on 10 lakh minus 2.8 lakh (28% GST). I didn’t found anyone mentioned this. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Pros: 1) you'll not pay 15 yr road tax at time of purchase, means less initial on-road cost, less interest on loan, hence car will be cheaper on your pocket. 2) as it is going to be BH number, no one gets idea from where you belong. Means if you are from Delhi and take your car/bike to Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyd, etc. (or vice versa), your vehicle might not be stopped just because you are from other state. 3) if you want to move residence from one state to another, process will be much smoother, as no new registration number is required to be given, and you can easily ask/manage road tax you've paid in previous state (as it was for 2 yr only). 4) if you want to sell your car, you. can charge lower amount, coz you have not paid road tax for whole 15 year. same applies for buyer, he'll get car in low price. Cons: Only con which I think of is conditions required for BH number must be fullfiled everytime, like if you want to sell the vehicle, buyer must also fullfills BH number requirements, or else he has to register with regular number and pay complete road tax for remaining year. Apart from this, BH series seems great.

one more point to add, Road tax slabs differs for different state for different class of vehicles, like petrol or diesel, sub-4 meter or big car, etc. However, tax slab for BH is same for each state. so in most cases, total tax paid with BH series in span of 15 yrs will be more than what you pay for regular registration at purchase of vehicle. But still I find BH series more economical coz it can make difference of around 1 lakh (or more) for big cars at time of purchase.

You may purchase the vehicle from another city, however, you need to have address proof for the same city. You may have the vehicle registered temporarily in the current city and then get a permanent registration number from the RTO of your desired city. Sir in punjab RTo tax is approximately 9%.and bh serial RTo is 8%.but punjab calculated 578000/*9=52020/and get bh no calculated 578000*0.08*2%=92480/%15=6165/=bh no is 92480 to 15 year RTO and state RTO is 52020 to 15year how to lose and benefits sir ji
