As a substitute teacher.. I find the kids labeled “bad” or “troubled” just the opposite / they are incredibly attune to the BS of this world! 😳

I was totally one of “those kids” at 14-15. What my parents never knew, was that when I was 13 a family friend had tried to rape me. I grew up in a very traditional religious family, and I knew if I said something, they would blame me, so I didn’t. That sent me into a spiral of behavior. Nobody ever asked me why I was so angry or what happened. They just reacted to me staying out late and coming home drunk(which happened exactly one time, but in a conservative family, they never let you forget that). I was sent away at 15. I ended up doing OK thankfully as an adult and I now have children of my own who I cut some fucking slack, and when they act out, I find out the root of the problem as opposed to just reacting to the behavior.

Two years later, STILL ON HIS WEBSITE!!!! Unbelievable and incredibly heartbreaking.

My first impression of this young lady a few years ago was “such a joke.” But Holy crap I had no idea.

She's definitely angry & absolutely has a right to be angry!! I'm 26 years old & I still haven't gotten through the traumatic experiences I've been through!! I doubt that she will ever get over this!! This is actually insane. It's child abuse PERIOD 👌💯

She was just a teen with an attitude like all normal teens going through something and they shamed her and humiliated her and she stood up to them, she stood up for herself and she spoke out against those disgusting Tough Love ( no love) Ranches. She made a negative into a positive even when they were all against her. Respect for that.

I've always felt like the parents are the ones who need "training" or parenting classes and therapy. Bad parenting is always the root of the problem. Sending the kids away to be abused by someone else doesn't fix anything, especially when they go back home to the same dysfunctional home environment, but with lots of new trauma.

I went through "tough love" programs in the 80s. Parents paid ~$25,000 to have me dropped into Death Valley (or at least I think that's where I was, because we were blindfolded for the drive) for 120 days in 1 pair of clothes, where I had to bow and spindle a fire or get hypothermia. My parents had no idea, because they were shown pictures of happy kids roasting marshmallows over a fire on a "wilderness adventure." There were no marshmallows. Starved us for 7 days "to clean out the toxins." I was so hungry I ate grass out of the ground. We then got dehydrated rations. The "guides" all had guns. I vomited and crapped myself after the forced fasting. They told me I had to hike or the other kids would drag me with a rope. We had a girl in our group and I can't imagine what she did for 120 days with no change of clothes, or hygienic products. The worst crime I had committed at that point in my life was smoking cigarettes and having long hair. I was 14. The particular place I was sent to in Utah was since busted by the FBI. They had changed names after deaths, so many times it was ridiculous. It was called "Sequoia" when I went. I think it was part of a larger network.

As a woman that was in a lot of state ran facilities pretty much all kids get abused. They're all horrid they're all toxic. They're not safe. Everyone claims to care so fucking much about kids and no one ever actually does anything about their safety. when i was 17 years old i made the choice to go to a Troubled teen program (ran by an agency i cant say because the only proof i have is my voice) for what and they honestly broke us down to the point teens were leaving and going to the hospital plus people were getting beat in there sleep with locker bars. On top of that if we didnt stay quiet or if we didnt understand an order we were given we had to sit out side in the cold in the outside hallway until the sun came up then we had to 2 minutes to put on our uniforms and make sure our boots were laced up perfectly and we had to run the the concrete flat top and have uniform inspection and if your uniform wasnt in code you got sent to the d yard for 10+ hours and doing consistant work outs no break no bathroom time . also if you got caught by staff talking at all more than once they sent us to the TO hall and that was rooms with no beds no blankets no and a 2 day old jimmy dean sandwich. some times staff would get into it with the teens and they kept the males and females separate so if we got caught looking or talk to the opposite gender we got yelled and had to do latrine patrol also if we tried run then we were caught and thrown in TO hall for days sometimes a week long. this more i could speak on but i think thats for another time i just had to share my story even tho i made the choice to go i will have the trauma and the verbal and mental abuse. im 23 now and i look back i wouldve been better without it heres a few articals www.wafb.com/2019/12/09/lawsuit-teen-slammed-punched-la-youth-challenge-program-another-cadet-allegedly-choked-until-unconscious/ www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/courts/parents-of-louisiana-boy-sue-national-guard-youth-challenge-over-sons-death/article_0c6073c0-5828-11e7-a56f-47711adcb752.html

💖 I had never watched that "Dr." Phil before seeing the episode she was on. In that episode alone, **HIS** behavior was gaslighting, intimidating, shaming, abusive. I cannot see how anyone could watch his show or he could be this successful for this long. It makes me sick and I want to see something DONE about it. Take him out of a position of influence. FOR. GOOD.

For those saying that she should've talked about it years ago how would anyone belive her? She was 13 at the time and rebellious people wouldn't have believed her just like you don't now.

My therapist recommended wilderness therapy for me in 2015. 6 years later, I confronted him with the horrors I experienced and he had the same reaction as dr Phil. Completely hands off, blocked me as well.
