Bhai Gurmit Singh Ji Virdee was one of the most talented Sikh tabla players of his generation. Young tabla players sat in awe listening to marathon long tabla playing during keertan programmes that ran for several hours.
Ustad Harkirat Singh Rayatt is a disciple (and son in-law) of the late Bhai Gurmit Singh Ji Virdee. He is passionate about performing, both with Kirtan and classically. He runs classes from Southall and Watford and has taught and inspired hundreds. Gurdain Singh Rayatt is a disciple of his father Ustad Harkirat Singh and the late Pandit Shankar Ghosh. He performs often, and has accompanied maestros such as Ustad Nishat Khan, Niladri Kumar, Purbayan Chatterjee, smt. Kala Ramnath, Pt Debashish Bhattacharya and many more. So happy to see your family and the sangat having the true attributes of a Gursikh family. Reminds me of the time when my father was alive and we had similar kirtan samagam at home all the time. Thoroughly enjoying the shabad every time I listen to it.

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pauree: ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤੂਹੈ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ ਤੂੰ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ-ਇਹ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ You alone know Your greatness - no one else is as great as You. ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਰੀਕ ਹੋਵੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ) (ਪਰ) ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ । If there were some other rival as great as You, then I would speak of him. You alone are as great as You are. ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਰੁ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਈ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਹ ਰੀਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? One who serves You obtains peace; who else can compare to You? ਤੂ ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਹਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਅਗੈ ਮੰਗਣ ਨੋ ਹਥ ਜੋੜਿ ਖਲੀ ਸਭ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਬਣਾ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਗੇ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਖਲੋਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ । You are all-powerful to destroy and create, O Great Giver; with palms pressed together, all stand begging before You. ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮੈ ਕੋਈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭਸੈ ਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਖੰਡੀ ਵਰਭੰਡੀ ਪਾਤਾਲੀ ਪੁਰਈ ਸਭ ਲੋਈ ॥੩॥ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦਾਨੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਖੰਡਾਂ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਂ, ਪਾਤਾਲਾਂ, ਪੁਰੀਆਂ, ਸਾਰੇ (ਚੌਦਾਂ ਹੀ) ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।੩। I see none as great as You, O Great Giver; You give in charity to the beings of all the continents, worlds, solar systems, nether regions and universes. ||3|| Guru Amar Daas Ji in Raag Bihaagraa - 549
