My Copperband is an aptasia assasin, took 3 days for him to clean up m 6 foot reef, left him in for a month to make sure all was gone , then moved him to my 4 foot and then to my cube, since them i have lent him to two different friends and has cleaned up their tanks too. The hardest thing about CBs is getting through QT and tank transfer method and getting them to eat frozen mysis, the trick is to use a black plastic tub for tank transfer and qt, or else they keep swimming into the glass once they injure their beak its game over. Getting them to eat is easy start them on frozen or fresh mussels and once they are eating them use one of the old shells and add two cube of mysis and some RO water and freeze and then into tank and CB is fooled into trying mysis. People always have trouble with CBs since working this out i have QTed a dozen or so for friends and fellow reefers, and when picking one from LFS look for one that is active and inquisitive and looking for food, stay away from skinny ones sitting in a corner, healthy CBs never stop moving. Nice vid good luck with your aptasia cull.

They work. Are expensive. Just be aware they have potential to actually eat bubbletip anemones too. Had a vat with aiptasia infestation, that also was housing, growing a number of RBTs. Aiptasia eliminated. But surprisingly over the next few weeks the RBTs started disappearing. 🤷🏻♂️. Nothing else had changed. So have to assume anemones no matter what genera are on the menu.

Do you think they were all gone then they’re back, but by then the berghia are all dead. Don’t know where these are coming from. So expensive. but your berghia look big . what size did you buy? And how many for what size tank? I subscribed and we will continue watching.

3:54 is that a Lemon Peel Angelfish in the corner or a Tang?
@tylerhuxford34409 ай бұрын
It’s actually a mimic tang! I have a lemon peel in my larger 120 gallon, not shown here. I couldn’t put a lemon peel in here or else he’d eat all these zoas 😅 But mimic tangs are named such because they look just like lemon peel angels in his juvenile state. He’s a great algae eater 💪 he won’t look like this forever though, they change color as they grow. Make sure you look up the adult version and like what you see before snagging

Aiptasia-x or making slurry of Kalkwasser is so much faster. Never had them spore. 35 year reefer.
@CoralReefkid Жыл бұрын
What consistency should I aim for with the kalk mixture?
@geoffhunt7965 Жыл бұрын
@@CoralReefkid Consistency like mayonnaise but would still allow you to suck it up into a syringe so you can slowly squirt it in the mouth when you have all the power heads and flow shut off in the tank. I completely cover the aptasia but I start slowly putting it in the mouths.

@@CoralReefkid after about 10 or 15 minutes, turn the flow back on and the white Kalkwasser floats around and generally does not cause any problem but some people might want to siphon it out before turning the flow back on but I’ve never bothered to do that and I’ve never had a problem. Also, some people utilize filefish because they quite often eat aptasia.

What happens when the number of aiptasia are no longer sufficient to feed all the bhergias?

You have to get them out at that point. If you have a local fish store, they almost all will buy them since they’re in such high demand… lots of customers come in asking for them. So make sure they give you good store credit 💪

@tylerhuxford3440 I have a small colony of rasta zoas. Colony is doing much better now. I used to have a few aiptasia in between. All gone. If you have any bristleworms, add a copperband. It'll go after them and the aiptasias also.

I now have full on gardens of zoas, and I’ve heard (and witnessed) peppermint shrimp develop appetites for zoas… as for a copperband, I think this tank is a little too small for one of those 😕 I’ve also not had a copperband who will eat aptasias yet (even great eating CB’s). My only concern!
