je suis mauricien creole de roche-bois , je suis fière de île maurice et la communauté hindou que j'ai eu l'occasion de connaitre la culture a montain long creve coeur , pendant 4 ans de ma scolarité à île maurice , j'été le seul creole dans ma classe , je viens d'une famille modeste c'été pas la rose , mais mes camarade hindou été toujours la pour moi , maintenant je suis cuisinier professionel en suisse , quand je vois à la télé dans d'autre pays les communauté qui ce support plus , je vous dis chapeau, ene sel lepep ene sel nation.

Great music. Beautiful dance moves. Very enjoyable However, when I was on vacation in Mauritius recently I did not get to see this version of the popular Mauritian folk dance. I saw the version of this dance performed on stage and on the beach of the hotel we stayed in. I think we saw the commercial version. They called it the SEGA. The lady performers for stage costumes had wide flaring dresses with flower patterns. The midriffs were bare. The menfolk wore something more like pajamas with colorful top. The Ladies flutter the dresses about while shaking the bums and the tummy moves resembled N African belly dances. The drums were also rather different although they sounded the same. The guys playing the drums used something very much like the Inuit`s drum. It seems that there are two versions of this Mauritian folk dances with similar type of music and tunes but the songs can be in either of the two different languages widely spoken there. This one seems more like the genuine version.

The dances in the hotels sound fairly typical of staged sega dances anywhere. The original authentic sega songs come under sega typique and sega accordeon. Any traditional Mauritian sega should have a triangle, a maravann(shaker) and a ravann (frame drum).This is sega bhojpuri like what the Indians did with calypso in Trinidad.
