Biblically endorsed slavery was almost indistinguishable from Antebellum Chattel Slavery

You say that the slavery we saw in the Americas was "bad" please elaborate and tell us what specifically it was that made it bad ?? This should be really easy as it is widely regarded as one of the most abhorrent practices mankind has engaged in. Please understand I am *"NOT"* asking you to differentiate with anything in the bible. For the moment let's just stick to the slavery of the Americas, we can move onto the bible AFTER we agree on the things that made the slavery of the Americas "bad"

@trumpbellend6717 it wasn't endorsed. Following the rules of the king they worshipped was what was endorsed.

Surprise surprise, immediate appeals to the ambiguity of the Hebrew language in an attempt to simply define slavery out of the bible. Your scriptures were not written in "English" so obviously the words "bond servant" appear nowhere in it. What we do have however is the Hebrew word עבד" "ebed" which is derived from the root word "abad" which is cognate to the Arabic word "abd" meaning _one who is subordinated as a slave or servant_ Now whilst it is correct that Hebrew is very ambiguous and the hebrew word Ebed carries a range of meanings including servant and slave. The Greeks however had no such confusion with their words and had seperate words for servant and slave. so I think it telling that the septuagint uses the word doulos 300 times, and there is no ambiguity about this word as doulos literal means slave, "one who is owned". So at least it is clear what the translators in the 3rd century BC thought the meaning was. And this is the bible that *jesus* is thought to have quoted from hmmm?. 🤔🤔🤔 We also have biblical examples of doulos being used literally ( *eph: 6,5 col: 4,1* ) The Greeks choose doulos their word for slave not their word for "servant" precisely BECAUSE they knew the loading one word had over the other. They had other words such as "ergato" (see the parable of the hired workers in the vineyard in Matthew 20) or "diakonos". John 2 9 Doulos was always an unfree slave who had no liberty. Just a side point for you, the bible uses precisely the SAME WORDS to discribe slavery in Exodus 21 21 as it does for the Israelites slavery in Eygpt 🤔 so look on the bright side. Maybe those Israelites in Egypt really had a nice happy clappy relationship with the Egyptians, you know more like a *"contract worker"* Infact, I'm surprised God was so thoughtless as want to split up such a friendly productive social system at all aren't you ?? 😜😜😜 Oh and Incidentally Paul could speak and write both Greek and Hebrew and yet he chose to use the word "doulos" in his epistles 🤔🤔

Are you saying because the same word for an enslaved person was used to refer to Israel or Egypt, that means they were treated the same as enslaved people? God gave clear instructions on how a person who was a slave should be treated in Israel. Now, were enslaved people treated badly in Israel? I'm pretty sure there were, but that does not mean it was in God's will. The Israelites were very rebellious people. Additionally, enslaved people in modern times were horrible and were not the same as in Biblical times.

@@TelDem Do you acknowledge the Hebrew word עבד" "ebed" could mean both slave and servant *YES or NO* ?? If yes, then do you understand just how intellectually dishonest it is to say _"the bible uses the word servant"_ ??

@@TelDem And what about the non-Hebrew slaves you know the ones that were slaves for life. Their children were slaves for life. Any newborn children automatically became a slave for life. yes they were slaves not bond servants all endorsed by the god of the Bible. I'm curious as to your response ? I'm also curious as to why you're bending over backwards to try and defend something so Immoral ?

GOD did not invent or encourage slavery He just set down rules for the Israelites to follow regarding it.

Your god couldn't bring itself to forbid slavery, just say where you can take them from, how much you can sell them from, that you can keep the children of slaves etc. Sounds like a nice god!

God didn't force politics or political change. He chose for ppl to make their own choices for what politics they wanted. (Compliance, silence, indifference, greed, etc are ways ppl vote without ballots or petition). Will shut up & listen to your thoughts now.

If you were purchased as a slave, how are you making your own choice? Leviticus 25:44-46 New International Version 44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.
