Bichirs - Ornate, Albino Senegal, Lapradei

A short video on my 3 smaller bichirs. I had them in a 75 gallon tank before moving them into the 120 gallon semi-aggressive growout. The lapradei unfortunately was attacked by an Endlicheri bichir and had to be put down. The other 2 are doing well, and have since been joined by a Nigerian lap. The Endli has been separated for now until I have enough bichirs to diffuse the aggression. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

They are indeed sublimely patterned... I just hope my specimen remains non-aggressive as it grows.

Yeah definitely, however if I recall correctly most upper jaws are fairly tame.

Should be ok for short stretches. Bring it down to 80F as soon as the infestation resolves.

I recently just bought a Senegal and Lapradei. As soon as they enters the tank, they have been constantly attacked by my Endlicheri. My Lapradei also got its pectoral fin ripped off... Is there anyway to diffuse the aggression?

They will do that to establish a pecking order in the tank. What are their sizes? You can take out the rocks and wood so that they don't have individual territories.

They’re all around 4 to 5 inches long, the Endli is slightly bigger since it gets all the food. I just added a wood into the tank and thought it could give the other bichirs some hiding place, it never occurred to me that the Endli would completely takeover the place lol

There are reports of senegal bichirs growing back fins but I had to euthanize this lil guy as his did not grow back at all.

Hey Von, how big is it? Bloodworms would be better as they are softer. do you have it in with any other fish? what size tank?

The Fish Beast My endlicheri is 2 inch long i think. I put him in a 5 gal because i have a senegalus on my 20 gal 6 or 5 inches long.

Upgrade to a 40 breeder or a 55 gallon within the first 6-9 months. You'll eventually need a 6ft for a single endli.

They don't really school in the wild but in aquariums they tend to cluster together in a pile

@@HAL-mg4wy In this case the entire fin including the pectoral lobe which contained the bones and associated tissues were ripped off. No chance of growing back. If it were only part of the lobe it might have...
