20"x4" (23" outer diameter) because it gives high Torqe and fast exelleration to my legal limit of 27km/h (Germany 25km/h +10% tolerance)

FOUR INCHES WIDE regardless of diameter! I have spinal cord injuries that require me to minimize the bumps and jolts. I prefer 20" for general in town pleasure rides. The smaller tires seem more agile and responsive. For off-road/trails the 26" are a clear winner for me!

I really like the 4 inch wide 26 in tires on my ecotric hammer bike. But I think you would go farther if they were low profile or 3in. I had a stupid question I ordered a brake bleed kit and they did not send the oil and I don't think you can tighten hydraulic brakes can you use mineral oil?

Happy birthday month Kyle! My month is March, already past. As far as tires go, I like 26" bike with 26" x 4" on rear and 26" x 3" on front, I find it a little more aggressive in turns with slightly less width in front. Just sayin'!

Would like to see 24" tires become more mainstream. The added height from the 26" fat tires makes a noticeable difference if you're under 5'8" ish. I can ride my normal 26" no problem but ended up dropping to 20" fat tire ebike because the 26 was just a bit tall. There are only a few ebikes with 24" by default. Thanks for all the good bike info you share.

The sidewall on my Kenda Juggernaut tire says the size is 100/90-22 which looks like the nomenclature for a car tire. If so, then it works out to a tread width of 3.94 inches and a rolling diameter of 29.08 inches which is indeed what my tape measure says. So calling this tire a size 26 x 4 is like naming my dog Spot even though he has no spots, although he will come when he hears me yell, "Spot".

Great video. The first ebike I bought is a 26" fat tire MTB. When I finally put it together I was a bit taken aback at how tall it is. My crotch is on the bar when I stop. I have an idea, but not sure why my rear hub motored rear tire (26x4) went completely bald evenly down the center of the tire after 2k miles, but the front tire looks fine. I'm thinking it's because I almost exclusively use the rear brakes because I broke the front brake handle in an unfortunate wreck. I keep the tires at the maximum 20 psi. Should I lower the air pressure?

What's confusing is this: I have a Lectric XP, and needed a spare tube to carry in the bike bag. That tube is in short supply, so based on advice I read, I ordered a motorcycle tube from Amazon, sized at 3.50-16 (TR-6). I was skeptical, because this bike has 20 inch wheels, so when it arrived, I inflated the tube so as to compare with the bike. It looks like a perfect fit when I hold it up against the bike tire; matches the rim perfectly. So, why does a 16 inch tube fit perfectly on a 20 inch wheel?

This ebike has 21700 (Tesla Format) Samsung battery cells, which blows away the competition, especially at this unheard of price point. There is only one other brand out there with 21700 cells and its in a 20 Hour option, on the Surface Boar Fat tire ebike that costs $2800 with these cells. $1000 more people !!!. And the battery on this ebike is the best removal format on the market, bar none, while being concealed completely in the frame. Its a shrewd work of hydroformed Aluminum ART by Aventon to do this, as the 3 quarter wrapping of the frame, around the battery, offers a super strength downtube for a super great looking frame. The battery alone makes this ebike worth another $300 at least on top of the very low $1899 price point that you can get this at, if its not already sold out by now. This will be one hard ebike to keep in stock, and applaud aventon for trying this in these severe shortage times we are facing in the ebike industry, where many brands can't deliver ebikes until 2022 or 2023 (like cough, cough Trek, Giant, Cannonfail).

Can I expect a 26" e-bike from the same brand, same motor, controller and battery settings have a higher top speed than it respective 20" wheels? Considering the highest RPM that motor can generate? Considering torque isn't an issue to maintaing that top speed under load?

I recently bought a Rad Rover 5. Rad Power Cycles call the wheels 26 x 4 but the tires are sized 100-90-22. I put a tape measure across the rim and, sure enough, it measures 22". The total diameter including the tire is almost 29". 26 inches has nothing to do with it.
@fender1000100
@fender1000100 2 жыл бұрын
@Mike Frazier Agreed no disrespect to op here. His channel and info are generally good. But he got it WRONG here. When they rate a size for a wheel they mean including the STANDARD sized tyres fitted not just the rims. I've had bikes with wheels everything from 14 inches to 26. And this holds true. The RIMS of a standard 20 inch wheel are actually closer to 16 inches. A 26 inch wheel 22 inches. When it comes to FAT TYRE BIKES. The game CHANGES. I had two supposedly 20" wheel ebikes. One used 20X 1.95 tyres the other 20X 4.00 tyres. The 20X 1.95 were about 20 inches what they are SUPPOSED to be. With a PSI of 40. The fat tyre wheels however were over 23 inches. So they are no longer 20 inch diameter. That goes out of the window once you are using fat tyres. And if you dont adjust for this on your bike computer. All your data will be OFF. Your distance your speed average speed everything. So this is very important to keep in mind.

Thanks for this video. I'm still confused about bicycle tire sizes though. For example nothing about a 20-inch tire is 20 inches. And nothing about the wheel that a 20" tire fits on is 20 inches. So what do these numbers represent?
@caseyb1346
@caseyb1346 2 жыл бұрын
My impression is Kyle is only familiar with marketing lingo but doesn't understand the actual technical specs that bicycles are built by. Let me help you understand since you are absolutely right, the numbers don't make any sense. And the reason why, as I alluded to, is it is all marketing lingo. They are not technical specifications. They are called 20 inch tires because 20 is a nice round even number somewhat close to the outside diameter of the tires. That's it. It has nothing to do with rim size. The rim size is implied, because all the manufacturers agreed that their "20 inch tires" will only fit on one rim size. Rims are made to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) specified sizes. So all the tire makers agreed their '20 inch tires' will fit a ISO 406mm Rim. 406mm =/= 20 inches. Not even close, its closer to 16". Also as you noticed, most so called 20 inch tires are not actually 20 inches outside diameter, either. Like I said, its marketing lingo. 17.5, 18.3, 19.5 or whatever inch tires sounds weird, so they rounded up to 20 so it sounded nicer. That is how inane and arbitrary the tire size system for bicycles are.

@fender1000100
@fender1000100 2 жыл бұрын
Afraid you are wrong here about wheel diameters. A 20 inch wheeled ebike for example is referring to the wheel in TOTAL. Once you have a standard tyre fitted and inflated to its standard PSI. Lets say 40 for a 20 X 1.95 tyre. The RIM of that 20 inch bike will actually be a good deal smaller. More like 16 inches. Now in the case of FAT TYRE 20 inch bikes. EVERYTHING CHANGES. The wheel diameter now automatically becomes BIGGER. Somewhere between 23 to 24 inches. And you have to adjust for this on your bike computer settings. Or all your data will be off. Speed, distance, average speed etc. Just thought I needed to clear this up.
