why not cancel mortgages, car loans, or any loans for that matter. Why student loan?
@dannydonnelly8198
@dannydonnelly8198 2 жыл бұрын
@@johntran1352 The difference between these types of loans and student loans is that you have to be a consenting adult with an established credit for any non federal student. A federal student loan will be given to a minor as long as they meet the academic requirements for the program they are applying to. It's illegal to enter into a contractual agreement with a minor, so the US government is breaking their laws by giving out student loans to HS students under the age of 18.

@@highpeaks3598 True, the majority are 18 at graduation but you start the applications for college programs and financial assistance well before this, usually when you're 16/17. That's why HS school athletes are allowed to receive scholarships at 16, so they know how much they need to take out if they end up without a full ride. The rate of college drop out increases exponentially ever year you wait to attend college after HS as you lose a lot of arithmetic and reading comprehension skills. From my experience as a TA, for an introductory Biology class (basically a weed out for Botany, Zoology, Microbiology and pre-med students) ever former active military personnel failed the class or withdraw from it. Other TA's I talked to in the College of Sciences also noticed this pattern. In fact, the only military personnel I ever saw pass the class was a reservist who applied to school after basic training. Most of the time they have an attitude too because you're younger than them.

I was 17 when I graduated from HS and definitely signed my life away before I graduated from high school. Worst thing I ever did. I was too young to make those important choices at that age. I also came from a very impoverished household that had limited know how on financial things of that magnitude/nature(no home owners no business owners or much financial literacy in the family). I would be the first to attempt college. What's worse is that all my highschool councilors strongly encouraged the taking out of loans. They told me that's what I had to do to be successful in life. Little did I know is that I lacked the necessary tools to complete college like some others. Got saddled with debt. Should have just taken a trade tbh. This is predatory lending. When highschools don't even teach basic financial literacy, subjecting their students to these kinds of life draining loans is %100 predatory and no amount of privileged "it's your responsibility, you chose this" is going to erase that.

✔️Let’s review Joe Biden and the Democrats claim that inflation is transitory. That’s a lie. 1. My Gasoline price is up $1.20 gal. vs. 2020 2. My favorite cereal is up over 6% from six months ago. 3. My price for my favorite Coffee is up 8% 4. The price for 1/2 gal. of milk is up 7% 5. My favorite chips are up 6% and less product now in the bag. 6. My Natural Gas to heat my house is up from .52 per therm to .71 per therm up 36% 7. Clothing prices are all up 10 to 20% versus 2020 for same items. 8. Shortages an empty shelves on many of the items the average American needs daily. The 5.9% Social Security increase I get in 2022 doesn’t cover what your transitory inflation has done to prices people need daily to live. It is costing the average American family like mine more for everything than before you were elected president. So now I have less money then in 2020 even after the 5.9% social security increase for 2022. Mr. Biden this could be why your overall approval rating is now 39% and 29% on handling the US economy. Your failed policies will cause Democrats massive losses from Coast-To- Coast come November 2022 elections. Your failing on handling Covid-19 and you have yet to demand China to compensate Americans for what they caused. Please tell us why? Another Key Inflation Index Hits 40-Year High. Inflation continues to soar throughout the U.S., with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index increasing to the highest level in almost 42 years while consumer spending cools, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported Thursday. This is Biden‘s and the Democrats fault regardless how they try to spin it in the bias fake news or White House. Shame on Biden and democrats. Yes we miss President Trump.

No one ever mumbles a word about the billions of dollars of credit card debt that is wiped away each year when people file for bankruptcy. I personally have postponed having children in order to build wealth and get ahead financially. Even still, I pay thousands of dollars each year so that kids that I don't even have are granted a free public education and food while in school (for those who need it). I pay thousands more in Medicare and social security taxes that again, I do not currently benefit from. You will never hear me complain about it because at the end of the day I know that it is for the greater good. While there are those who did not make the wisest decisions regarding their student loan amounts, most people were sincere in their decisions to take out student loans, however, the system is so flawed that millions of borrowers are now faced with a predicament that will likely never be resolved in their lifetimes unless serious changes go into effect to help student loan borrowers. It is for THE GREATER GOOD. CANCEL 50k of STUDENT LOAN DEBT! CANCEL STUDENT LOAN INTEREST!

The best way to fix the student debt issue is to bring back bankruptcy protection for all student loans. Here are some reasons why: 1) Forgiving $10K will not help those who owe $100+K. Also, those who only owe $10K will not have accountability. Bankruptcy stays on one's record forever, not just 7 years, so people will think twice about filing. 2) Bankruptcy protection will stop the flow of easy money from banks to colleges, since the US government will no longer guarantee the return of education related money to banks. Predatory colleges will close first, then schools with inflated tuitions due to all the amenities they offer. 3) The remaining schools will have to make tuition reasonable again, since there will be fewer people with access to money. 4) A bachelor's degree will mean something again, since fewer people will obtain them. 5) Currently, black students are borrowing more money than white students, even though fewer black students are obtaining their degrees. 6) Soon, schools will be more competitive again as more and more of them close, since there will be more students applying for the remaining seats.

People are rewarded for their mistakes all the time. Billions of credit card debt is wiped clean each year when people file for bankruptcy. Billions more is given out in welfare to the millions of Americans who pop out children that they can't afford daily. Billions more is taken out in taxes to support Medicare and social security every year, yet no one bats a single eye because it is for the greater good. Myself and many others have postponed starting families due to student loan debt repayment so at the end of the day everyone sacrifices something. You sacrificed your savings and I am choosing to save before starting a family. While I am grateful that I am able to save, I would not become envious if the next person were to receive a bit of help. Hopefully your children are able to earn good incomes and will give back to you for the sacrifices that you made for them. Are they chumps? No. They are now able to live a debt free life and build wealth early if they so choose. However, millions of Americans who are stuck in the student debt cycle are not as fortunate. I hope that you feel "better" and "on top" now.

Better yet, stop stalling and work on that income-based repayment plan. Things you definitely need to change in your draft: 1. Graduate loans. Not everyone with graduate loans is making a ton of money. Especially in those supposed "super important public service jobs" that required it (i.e. social work). Allow them to be in the program you're making and just make sure there's income thresholds/caps. You were already doing that for undergrad loans. Why should graduate loans be different? 2. Get rid of that marriage penalty. Don't saddle a couple with that debt. Saddle the person who made the decision for it. I think that's a much more palatable medium for people against student loan forgiveness and should still take a lot of the heat off those trying to make due with their loans while trying to start families and afford basic COL.

Just paid mine off this year and I worked a second job. I missed many parties, dinners with friends/family and holidays but at least I can laugh knowing I paid mine off while the rest of American is too lazy to work hard and pay off your debt. Now I have banks calling me asking me if I want to take a loan out , I tell them no thanks being debt free is truly the American dream!

If these people took loans out they should pay them back. You drove that new car off the lot, and you make that payment. You choose to buy that over priced brand new house, you eat out almost every day, you sit in line at starbucks for that 5 dollar cup of coffee, why not pay your student loan back? How much of that 300,000.00 went to books and school expenses? Not rent, pizza, and beer.?

Simple, if you default on loan to finance a degree, then the degree should be voided. If you don't make your payments on a car they repossess it, why should you get to keep a degree you did not pay for.

If the government forgives student loans, all those people will just find another way to spend their money and go broke. Forgiveness isn’t the answer. Financial education is. The govt needs to get out of the education loan business period. They have ruined lives. Those who borrowed..sorry, but you’re SOL. But we can protect new generations going forward.

No Free Lunch - you go to College, you pay for it, there are 100's of current scholorship programs in each and every state, tuition assistance, but so many choose to go out of state, spend large amounts of money, borrowing it, and now expect the Tax Payers to pay for their bad decisions - NO FREE LUNCH, if there is any reimbursement, then every past student and or parent that paid their loans off, should also be reimbursed - only fair..... Biden is lost, asleep at the wheel, clown show - Bernie / Omar and the AOC Squad all need another job, they keep saying 1 person is holding up the BBB BS - SHEEP wake up / its 51 Senators that are all in agreement that additional spending is not needed, there are 11 Million jobs today open and need to be filled, who is going to fill additional jobs, where are you going to find people to work if you keep paying people to stay home, have more kids, get paid for each one, this is totally backwards of how the USA works - stop the spending, no more "Free Lunch" stop the AOC Squad "YOU OWE ME - CANCEL US CULTURE - CRT / DEFUND THE POLICE" Crew - VOTE NO, NO MORE SPENDING - VOTE 2022 SWEEP THE HOUSE AND SENATE, 2024 TRUMP COMES BACK...and the Economy takes off again, we become energy independent and your fuel cost drop, inflation drops, VOTE. DEMS WORKING TO CHANGE ANYTHING THEY DO NOT LIKE, CHANGE THE RULES IF YOU CAN'T WIN "GET YOUR WAY" - STOP THEM "VOTE" 2022 AND 2024......Trump back in 2024 and Business really starts to roll, USA all the way.
